I don't read really read new stories but I am glad I did because this was an amazing work. You did a very good job a getting the characters right while telling a good story too. I would love to see something like this story continued to show what I've with Celestia rasing spike was like.

That was really, really sweet. I'm always a sucker for Momlestia and Spike stories.
However, within the context of this story, it does make me wonder why Spike never showed up for Rarity's party at all if he was around at the time. I get that he wants to spend time with his mother, but to not show up at all? Was he not invited or something? I suppose that wouldn't surprise me.
A small nitpick, but something I thought was worth noting.

Why would he reveal that? In fact, wouldn't going to Rarity's birthday help dispel suspicions about that? It would make some sense for him to come to Canterlot for that birthday, so what else is he doing there if he doesn't show up?

A great story for Mother's Day. It also has me even more excited for the episode where Spike gets his wings. It will definitely be so awesome!
It was also great to hear that Chinese Legend. It's a delightful addition to the story you put together. It further helped show Celestia's unwavering love for Spike.

Oh, one more thing, I like how you modified 'Sweet & Elite' so Spike wasn't left out of Twilight's party. The way you modified it so he just wanted to spend time with his mom definitely makes it better. :)
