Alex Warlorn

Just your average Brony who happened upon an idea that might actually turn out to be clever enough for guys to love.

E

A story cultural exchange between the griffins and ponies. This one is about a totally and utterly evil griffin who makes griffins think they're bad for eating meat and to spy on one another to make sure none 'back slide' but don't worry, the heroes expose him as a hypocrite and free the village from his tyranny and after he comes back for revenge, he becomes a passionate meat eater too!

Starlight Glimmer, "Hey! Wait a minute!"

But is Trixie considered a tofu ham?

I do not get how that joke works at all.

offend, not offense, but still a great read!

They looked over to Spike, who was holding one of the film reels. “Shouldn't we do something about these? We probably don't want to have our cultural exchange offense half the country...”

“Huh...and I thought it'd be silly b-movie about a tofu turkey that came to life and went on a rampage...” Spike admitted.

:rainbowlaugh: That sounds hilarious.

“...They didn't even mention that Griffons are primarily carnivorous in nature...They can eat some plants, but a purely herbivorous diet would make them very sick or even kill them...” Fluttershy suddenly added, earning herself stares that made her blush. “...I know carnivores...and I talk to the griffon who gets me fish for my meat eating animals.”

 That makes a lot of sense. I find it hard to imagine Fluttershy killing the fish herself, even if she understands the carnivors' need to eat. :fluttercry:

“...There's enough that I guess maybe we shouldn't judge it all that harshly given what happened...” Twilight said, turning to her graduated student with a solemn look as she ran the events of Our Town through her mind. “Starlight...what you did WAS wrong. You WERE the bad guy and we did the right thing by stopping you, that is true...but you weren't 'totally evil'...The point is...you weren't so much wrong as taking something good too far and in the wrong direction.”

The light heliotrope mare stared wide-eyed. “W-What?”

“...Everypony being equal and being treated like it would be nice...I would've liked not being treated worse for being slow learning to fly...” Fluttershy admitted, coming over.

“And there's plenty of ponies in Canterlot who need to realize their money and bloodline doesn't make them better than anypony else,” Twilight admitted, recalling Blueblood, Jet Set, and Upper Crust among others. “But getting everypony to give up their Cutie Marks or flat out taking them away was wrong. Brainwashing ponies was wrong. There's this Manega I've read with Spike where this villain who wanted to seek knowledge and perfection to the point he'd murder kingdoms and force a cosmic entity to bond with him. At the end, that being calls him a fool and sentences him to his doom and all he can scream is what's wrong with seeking those things, blind to the fact it's HOW he was seeking them that was...it wasn't wrong to want equality...” she continued, then gave her former student a hug. “You can feel guilty about the way you went about it, you can feel guilty about your revenge plan, but you shouldn't feel bad about what you wanted at its heart...”

“And you shouldn't stop trying to do it the right way...” Fluttershy added, giving her a hug.

:raritystarry: I love the little moral at the end.

Thanks!

And the point was indeed the point.

She's definitely a ham, and she can be fake at times, I could see her as a Tofurkey Ham.

While ponies could eat meat, it was considered a serious cultural taboo to do so.

F&^!ING FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE WHO REALIZES HORSES ARE OPPORTUNISTIC CARNIVORES!

That aside, I loved how there was a take that to the season 6 starters and finishers, though here it was a little... blatant. Like, less-show-more-tell blatant. The idea is sound, just needs some re-working.

6.5/10. :D

It was a SHORT story, it had to get it's point across concisely.

While ponies could eat meat, it was considered a serious cultural taboo to do so.

Question that this raises is, why 99% of the fandom continues to ignore the fact that equines can eat meat.

Twilight suddenly recalled an instance where they'd seen a Vampire Jackalope and Chupacabra fight to the death over the chance to eat Twilight and her friends while Fluttershy had been rather interested rather than horrified.

Why oh why is this not a thing yet? Or is it?

Why oh why is this not a thing yet? Or is it?

It's from the original first story arc of the IDW comic when the mane six are going through the woods to Chrysalis' castle.

Question that this raises is, why 99% of the fandom continues to ignore the fact that equines can eat meat.

Because the writers ignore it too. Since EVERYTHING except plants are apparently 100% sapient and human level intelligent in Equestria from ants to lice to bears to chickens to sharks. Oh, and apparently they're all veterans too.

Hmm. I can understand where Twilight and Fluttershy are going with this. Admiring Starlight's intentions, just not her methods...not something I care for, but it was still an interesting thought experiment for me to go through..,..eh. *shrugs*

As for the Griffin movie...yeeeeeeeah. This analogy really did demonstrate how poorly messaged the actual show did surrounding Starlight's battle. Yup. It did.

EXACTLY!!! I hate how in fiction land the default means of defeating an opposing view is not JUST to give it to the antagonist (that's inevitable) but also make him a hypocrite, who then suffers villain decay!
