Twinkletail

I write poni. I am easily distracted. I like Oreos.

After a long day of grueling Wonderbolt practice, Rainbow Dash arrives home to find that her marefriend Rarity has set up a scavenger hunt for her. With promises of a prize, Dash sets aside her rest to solve it!

Somewhat inspired by Raridash Doodles.

Omg...... Please tell me its not THAT Blues Clues ;w;

VIacom's not gonna be happy about that title. I request a change before they find out what the title is. I expect some of their lawyers to potentially find this and write a mad letter to you.

As I suggest, the title of it should be The Big Blue Purple Scavenger Hunt.

That was adorable, great work! :raritywink: Your Raridash stories are always delightful to read and the ending had me in stitches. :rainbowlaugh:
Also loved the reference to your other story 'Slices of Raridash', keep up the good work. :rainbowdetermined2:

This was great. I had a feeling the "prize" was going to be a prank/joke of some kind!

8199983 That's what I've been saying all along. Viacom's lawyers will probably hear of this story and that will necessitate a title change.

I laughed at the very end. Nice one, mate. :rainbowlaugh:

Dash's eyes scanned the closet, looking for whatever could possibly look like a present. Her eyes finally rested on a large black bag with a note on top of it. Dash liked to think she was fairly well-acquainted with gifts, and from all appearances, this had to be it. She was tempted to tear the bag open right then and there, but the knowledge that Rarity was right there and would likely be offended that her card was skipped gave her pause. She restrained her urges and reached for the note first, picking it up with a smile and reading it aloud."You've found your prize, my dear sweet Rainbow Dash! From now on, don't forget to toss the trash."

Anyone got the Let's Make A Deal 'Zonk' soundclip? That's what I heard in my head after Dash read the last line of that last note.

In case the picture alone doesn't properly convey my reaction, think back to the episode this is from. Discord is telling a "story" that is supposed to be hilarious, but completely fails to be. "We bought two cakes."

This was so poorly written that the only reason I'm bothering to respond at all, is 'cause I generally expect better from you, Twink. You're a much better writer than this. You can do funny. What happened here?

Did you call this 'Blue's Clues' just to apple to everyone's childhood?

Even if you did, most of us still enjoyed this.

Well done, pretty funny (do you think using humor makes your fics better? :twilightblush:).

Only noticed a few errors, I'll come back and edit this comment in a bit.

I can't believe I didn't catch on to that ending possibility sooner. :facehoof: Nice job! :rainbowlaugh:

This should get some kind of sequel where Dash somehow gets back at Rarity for this.

Wow. Rarity is a jerk. I mean, so is Dash, but so is Rarity.

I liked the narration throughout the story; it matched Rainbow Dash well. The little hints dropped by her narration also did a good job of supporting the ending, without giving it away. One thing bugged me, however:

Make sure to bring this little sheet along

The clues all told Dash to take them with her to the next stop, but we never saw her doing so. I thought that this would have consequences later, but it never did. Was this simply a way of distracting from the actual ending? If so, well done.

Man, this felt like an actual episode of FIM.

Despite her certainly that the door was made of solid matter, her hoof seemed to pass straight through.

...her certainty that...

Pinkie's eyes had the tendency to wander at times, and Dash couldn't fault get for it, as she was often the same way with Rarity–and occasionally other ponies if Rarity wasn't around.

...couldn't fault her for it... (I assume)

It had just happened to her the other day too, when Fluttershy was flying with her and humming sole song she couldn't-

... humming some song...

A very amusing little story. I admit that I didn't see that ending coming (though, given the stated inspiration, I perhaps should have) and it definitely got a chuckle out of me. The rest of it did get across Dash's frustration very well (though I'm not sure whether Rarity asked them to delay her like that to drive up her anticipation or whether they were just being themselves), but could maybe have had the comedy fleshed out a touch more.

Also, the story could maybe use a few more hints that forgetting to take the rubbish out was a continual or, at least, common problem for Dash - the hint at the beginning worked towards that somewhat, but a few more would have made this feel a touch less disproportionate as a response. After all, if it's happened dozens of times, it's a lot more understandable to go to these lengths than if it's happened once or twice and Rarity won't let Dash live it down. As it is, this didn't feel quite mean sprited enough to interfere with the comedy, but it's a close run thing. That said, such hints might run the risk of telegraphing the ending, so I'd understand trying to avoid that, but I think there could be a better balance.

Other than that, though, a pretty solid bit of silliness. I apologize if this comment is or seems overly critical, as I definitely did enjoy it. If nothing else, you get big points from me for mostly solid rhyming iambic pentameter - a rare find on this site and one I hope I can emulate.
