Taking Things too Literally Again

Keep your eyes pealed
How will I see?

Let freedom ring
She’ll leave a voice mail.

You could kill two birds with one stone.
You monster.

The apple doesn’t fall from the tree.
Thank gravity.

No one is an island.
Islands don’t whine about their lives.

There’s a diamond in the rough.
The dog ate it. It’s in the ruff.

You broke my heart.
You pay the medical bill.

He wears his heart on his sleeve.
Put that thing back where it belongs.

Fly away.
I’m not a bird.

He gave me puppy dog eyes.
… That’s all kinds of messed up.

If you’re blue
Try pink instead.

You can’t have your cake and eat it.
I’ve never understood that phrase. What else are you supposed to do with a cake?
Admire it from afar? It’s going to go bad eventually. Then you won’t be able to eat it at all.
