It could use some proofreading and the entire thing seemed rushed to a large extent.
The ending could have been a deep emotional moment about the death of Our Great Mother and our regret for such things, or how humans were spiteful and prideful, but also deeply seated in our primal beginnings and willing to adapt to the changes as needed.
I saw a standard ending for a standard "last stand" protocol.
