I must say, this idea intrigues me, favourited and liked. There's a couple of mistakes I picked up, nothing to major but here you go:
'The Big Book 'O Species' The apostrophe should be after the o since it's an abbreviation.
'Starswirls Guide to Creatures of Fact and Fiction' That should be 'Starswirl's' with an apostrophe. These are just the ones I picked up on, probably because they were sort of in bold... Anyway, nice story so far, I look forward to more.

One thing that was refreshing was that you had a good handle on Pinkie and Twilight's voices in the opening scene. As you get minor characters and others it's not quite as good, but not terrible either. Good show, I'll continue tracking. The idea is interesting, and it'll be fun to see what other stories you choose!

I hope this cleared up at least a few of the questions that some of you probably have.
[Edit] I know this chapter probably wasn't really suspenseful and didn't prompt the reaction that Twilight gave from it.
That's because I'm not good with suspenseful, and I need to work on that, characterization, and pacing. So please bear with me.
