Cute story, but a bit confusing without context of the back story.

For what it's worth, I don't think your grammar is deplorable, or even that bad. The missteps are mostly just punctuation errors, which are an easy fix once you get the hang of it. Nothing major.
And it's no problem at all: it's taken me 10 years of practice to get the hang of writing, and I still suffer from such mistakes.
