A Hoof-ful of Dust

You can't see the forest...

So, this might require a little explanation.

The inspiration for this story was (obviously) My Little Dashie - I'm sure most people have heard of it, at the very least. I finally got around to reading it just recently. I got to thinking about the protagonist in the story, how he lives alone in a broke-down part of town, doesn't really have any friends... isolated type, you know. I imagined the subject of Tom Waits' What's He Building?, and I started wondering what that story might have been like if he, the main character of My Little Dashie, was a serial killer. Then I also started thinking about the hyper-gory stories people write - Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, that sort of thing - which are incredibly violent but not especially scary, in that they don't really leave a lasting effect after you've read them. So I thought, could I write a story that's dark and nasty and grimy, and still tie it in some way to the MLP:FiM universe? Something like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or I Spit On Your Grave (original 70s versions both, of course). And, well, this is that. I'll leave it to my readers to tell me if I did well or not.

The next thing I write will be something nicer, I promise. No offense is intended towards My Little Dashie or its fans. Also, no real cats were harmed in the writing of this story.

Interesting twist, I must say.
