Pick a card.

What do you see, when you look into the cards. Stories? Lessons?

We stand at the edge of an era, Princess.

Look deeper into reality and you will find our truths and knowledge are not what we think it to be. How do we know things? Why are we here? The purpose of life and death and cards are always questioned.

Princess, I want to take you there, to where we find meaning. I want to take you to a place where life is vibrant and death is a gateway. It's always a gateway, path, portal, or doorway. All stories have change, and with change they are loved.

How will you change? How will you change?

Okay, seriously. What is going on here? Haven't you bent our minds enough?!? Are you a philosopher in disguise or something?

Was this just something you came up with during last series and this one?

Well, then. Talking relativity are we? I thought this was a fanfiction, not a science lesson! In all seriousness, though, great thus far. You're really bending my mind now! Are you a scientist in real life or something?

This is honestly too much to binge all at once. The first two books were fine, story-wise, but I've lost all track of what exactly was going on at this point. The only reason I keep reading this, I think, is just this personal itch of mine where I have to read the full story to see how it ends.

I admit this went through many rewrites, trying to find a balance of story telling and demonstrating bizarre nature of the Card Master. The trilogy however, has also demonstrated many different styles of writing. The first was a typical action adventure, while the second took that and tried to add a meaningful spin with the not-so-subtle history and war references. This one veers into literature that I have read while merging aspects of the adventure genre into it.

I will say that I believe it is not a stretch for people to read and understand the full picture, but that does not mean that's the only way to appreciate it. I wrote certain chapters, especially the actual "chapters," to be able to be appreciated in some capacity on their own, independent of the whole story. I decided to add more explanation in the final chapters, offering one interpretation of the purpose of the Card Master, but I didn't want this piece to represent a single view.

All I will definitively say is this: The Card Master views harmony differently than is presented in Equestria, and is determined to change the world to fit his will. Yet, he can only do so by influencing those who live in Equestria, not directly changing the world himself. The former half of the story is what he does to twist the audience and Twilight to see everything as he does.

I did study philosophy once.

Two things: I realize the rest of this final installment is an insane departure from the previous two. And, just as much as art can express the human soul, it must also entertain. I can't say for sure, but I think the Hunter was one of the favored parts of Cards of Legacy. Second thing was that I wanted an exploration of the world the Card Master seemed to have "created" out of no where. Twilight got thrown into a time beyond history, but it is still a world rich and diverse and as deep as Twilight's original time, and all others.

Never imagined her with a different form, but it's got the right idea with the tarot reference.

We all know the backstory. It's just been there through the whole show.
