Sequels1

When Big McIntosh comes by Carousel Boutique acting strangely, Rarity doesn't understand why he's acting even shyer than usual. But when he asks her to fix an old, ragged doll for him, it becomes clear that there's more going on than Mac will admit. Even if he were more talkative than usual.

Big Mac has always been hard to read. But it'll be even worse when he puts effort into it and makes sure no one finds out about his little stuffed friend—or the real reasons why he feels the need to hide her.

7593895 Thank you, my friend, and thanks for the fave! :pinkiehappy:

This was adorable

7593909 no prob. And god night:pinkiehappy:

Big mac doesn't get anywhere near enough attention on the show it's good to see someone giving him his dues.

I thought that this was a wonderful little story that you had written. I thought that you had done a real good job on portraying the characters and I could find myself reading the diaolouge as their voices. I forgot it was a story that I was reading, and was actually watching an episode, it was that good.

Well done Lightning!

-Fractured

Cute story! Good lessons for Big Mac to learn!

“Well, for goodness sake, man, out with it!” Rarity spat, her patience thinning.

Sorry...couldn't resist.... :twilightblush:

Very nicely done. I like.

7594934 . . . . . . . .

Okay. Fair enough. :twilightsheepish:

Glad you liked it.

Good to see you writing again.

After diner she retired to a cup of tea covered in her favorite robe & her favorite purple and green dragon slippers.... sissies indeed.

This story really speaks to me, my friend. I know exactly how Big Mac is feeling due to my desire to own a Sunset Shimmer plush yet not wanting anyone in my family knowing about it. Well done!

7595334 Thanks for favoriting, my friend! Glad you enjoyed! :pinkiehappy:

A very enjoyable story. And he get to eat with Rarity too. :raritywink:

Do you have any plans for a followup with Thunderlane?

7595458 Thanks for the fave! :pinkiehappy:

7595484 Actually, I have been building his return scene in my head since I finished this story. If I can add some more substance to it, I may just do it. Thanks for reading, and thanks for the follow!

Great job with the character voices! Rarity sounded like Rarity, Big Mac sounded like Big Mac... I heartily enjoyed this!

Now go and do a sequel for Thunderlane, you magnificent bastard.

Holy hell, this is the first fic I've read in almost an entire week. And I have around 8 waiting in the fave line.

7595683 Thanks again for reading!

7595694 This was a highly enjoyable story, and I'd love to see a sequel.

Great, now I have the image of ThunderLane in a dress singing "I feel pretty"

Really well done. The characters felt like themselves if that makes sense.

People should be allowed to like what they like, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody.

It doesn't make you a sissy, or weird, or stupid, or anything like that. It makes you You.

Try being a little less judgemental.

Um. A man in a dress is pretty much by definition a sissy. It might not be considered a nice word to describe the behavior but that does not make it inaccurate.

I did not not like this, but I also think the writing would be far stronger with fewer ellipses.

7595913
Well, tell it to Iggy Pop. Or maybe you'd go so far as to say, that "watching cartoons about colourfull ponies is sissy"?

Big Mac in this story is me when I buy anything MLP related in public. :P I liked it.

Well, I thought less of Mac after that episode: His unsportsmanlike conduct was appalling!

But then, he did do it for his little sister....

Ok, Mac, you get a pass this time, but only because it was for Apple Bloom.

And for goodness sake, the next time you wear a dress, please see Rarity first! That last one was nice enough, but the color was not doing you any favors.

By the gods -THIS. This is a pure and simple masterpiece of characterization and that classic adage, "show don't tell". I could literally feel the heart-wrenching pain coming from Big Mac and sense Rarity's anxiety turned understanding.

Good sir, this here is a work of literary grandiose that everyone should read time and time again. With your permission, I'll be spreading word of it to all my sources.

He gets a dress made by Rarity:raritystarry: and I'm gonna have some conflicting feelings. Stupid sexy Big Mac...

7596116
Sissy (derived from sister;[1] also sissy baby, sissy boy, sissy man, sissy pants, etc.) is a pejorative term for a boy or man who does not conform to "standard male" gender stereotypes. Generally, sissy implies a lack of courage, strength, athleticism, coordination, testosterone, male libido, and stoic calm, all of which have traditionally been associated with masculinity and considered important to the male role in Western society. A man might also be considered a sissy for being interested in traditionally feminine hobbies or employment (e.g., being fond of fashion), displaying effeminate behavior (e.g., using hair products or displaying limp wrists), being unathletic, or being homosexual.[2]

Sissy is, approximately, the male converse of tomboy (a girl with masculine traits or interests), but carries more strongly negative connotations. Research published in 2015 suggests that the terms are asymmetrical in their power to stigmatize: sissy is almost always pejorative and conveys greater severity, while tomboy rarely causes as much concern but also elicits pressure to conform to normative gender roles.[3] Applied to an individual, these terms become a form of social control, enforcing normative gender roles and often drawing on the unfounded link of gender nonconformity with homosexuality.[4]

definition of Sissy

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed this short story. On a dare once, I wore the bride's maids dress my wife owned while singing 'I Would Do Anything For Love' by Meatloaf. I felt pretty.

For the record, I am have been shot, stabbed, hit by a car, beat up by six guys, etc. I am manly... until I want to feel pretty.

7595913 Last I checked the definition of a sissy is "to be feeble and cowardly."
