Who am I? Does it really matter? Probably not. Just sit back and enjoy stories drawn from the eldritch depths of a disturbed mind with a love for pastel colored ponies.

After a late night of band practice, Sunset Shimmer enjoys a walk home in the snow, reflects on the past and present, and makes strawberry pancakes.

That's a different way of showing Sunset's situation. It is an odd feeling, to feel guilty about not feeling guilty, but its an interesting change showing Sunset not missing Equestria much at all. Still a few regrets, but otherwise she's settled into human life pretty happily. Not to mention just how much she didn't fit in with Equestria before. She probably could have made friends, but didn't feel like it or understand what she was missing out on until recently.

I always like a look into Sunset's mindset, her situation is certainly one of the more unique ones in MLP (being the only pony in a strange land). I don't mind reading more, especially the parts you took out.

Very thoughtful and interesting story, nice to see Sunset reflecting. It comes over that she has good friends, but she's still very alone. I'd really want to read more about Sunset's past as well.

7307267 One of the more interesting notions I've always found is the thought that even when surrounded by friends-good ones at that-you can still be truly alone. This doesn't really play into FiM very much, but I've always thought Sunset is one of the characters who definitely has bits of this going on.

She's a unicorn prodigy whose abilities far surpassed her peers, exhibited far greater levels of aggression and malice than most ponies have in their entire lifetime (whom I generally think are less aggressive than humans, but by contrast are more prone to destructive panics when something goes against the normal and are incredibly susceptible to herd mentality), and willingly stayed on a foreign world- at first out of sheer stubbornness, hatched a plot to ascend in a magic-less world, that, for all its problems, worked (granted, she became a demon rather than an alicorn or equivalent, but she bleeding did it, and one of the few in history to do so), then stayed because she had friends and, in my headcanon at least, she felt more comfortable in the human world, and sometimes wonders-with guilt- if she should have been born human, rather than pony.

Honestly, stuff like this is why she's my favorite character in FiM, and narrowly wins over Twilight despite Twilight's much more prevalent screen time and character development.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed this fic. I'll probably work on a sequel of sorts after a while, maybe make a shared continuity in my stories.

This was a nice look at Sunset's character.
