Off to a great start. Glad to see bits of both movies sprinkled in to make something original.
The 1967 film is one of my all time favourites and the remake was just as great.

Wonderful job on the first chapter, I like how you didn't copy and paste the original movie and had the characters acting like they did in the show. I also really like the reason for non-ponies don't trust ponies.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Discord is in the role of Baloo or Kaa.
Hello there. I have to say this DOES look like it has the potential to be a darn good story. As NobodieZ said, I particularly like how you don't just copy-and-paste the movie and you keep the characters in character. Also, very good job on the exchanges, emotional content and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Chrysalis is going to be either Kaa or Louie, but I am not going to wager any other guesses. Still I am going to be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

While everyone here seems to hoping that you follow the two Disney examples of The Jungle Book, I think being more faithful to Kipling's original story or the animated short directed by Chuck Jones would be better calls.
