"Burninating the countryside... burninating the peasants... burninating all the peoples... and their thatched-roof COTTAGES! THATCHED-ROOF COTTAGES!! And the Trogdor comes in the NIIIIGHT!!!"

E

This story is a sequel to Mistress of the Dark

This is also a sequel to That one strange story about a donkey., but the description below is all you need if you haven't read either prequel.

Moondancer and Moonlight Raven have become unlikely friends, despite one being as preoccupied with science as the other is with mysticism. But when an artifact that blurs the line between magic and technology unleashes one of the more unique threats Canterlot has ever faced, the two must set their differences aside (and seek the help of a certain Doctor) to save the day… provided they don’t annoy each other to death first.

This was my entry for Ocalhoun's Big 250k contest, and obviously riffs on That one strange story about a donkey. I feel obliged to note that certain details of Eugene's character are not intended to insult or trivialize others; they're just part of the hand his character was dealt. Cover art assembled from here and here.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I got something quite fun. Thank you for it.

7074888 I'm glad you enjoyed it! :derpytongue2:

It's probably one of the more cracky stories out there that ultimately revolves around a simple disagreement and reconciliation between friends.

This was rather weird. Derpy probably knows how to find the TARDIS.

This was definitely a fun read.

I just... :twilightblush:

Ummm... :twilightblush:

Have a small, itty bitty question. :fluttershyouch:

Should a friendship lesson exist in the same creative space as the words "a giant, three-legged, retired, transvestite, autistic, vampire donkey pirate?" :rainbowhuh:

I think you answered it. :raritywink:

YES. :raritystarry: ... :trollestia:

7081182 I can't disagree, though I hope it managed to work in spite (or, ideally, in part because) of all the weirdness. :derpytongue2: FWIW I added the bit about leaving Derpy behind because I realized (1) someone would be bound to ask where she was if I didn't allude to her doing something off-screen, and (2) I had the opportunity to work in a Douglas Adams reference. I regret nothing! :rainbowwild:

7086767 I'm glad to hear that! You know as I do that sometimes creativity requires straddling the line between that which is conventional, and that which is completely ludicrous. :raritywink: :pinkiecrazy:

Well this was a fun story, you think ponies would be a little bit more open minded in a world Full of magic and Pinkie Pie's. :pinkiecrazy:

Aww... and you worked in a friendship lesson, to boot!

7105325 I should have included some kind of a warning about the heart buried deep below all the surface layers of crack and insanity going on in this story. :derpytongue2:

Writing these two is fun. I think I kind of have to wait for inspiration to strike, but I would be pleased if it did so again.

Hmm... Raven needs a date with Pledge or something. All that undead dust really messes with the allergies. One day I'll write again... and the world will know that this story was fun. Quite fun... so fun I could shake a femur at it! A Femur of Fun!

7149092 I look forward both to your return, and to the proffered funny bone. :derpytongue2:

Ehh, the donkey was a really bad addition, and Doctor Whooves wasn't much better, for all that you wrote him spot-on from Slice of Life. I think I'd have preferred just a story about Moon² having friendship problems. Their bits were the best part of this.

Well this turned out much better than I had any right to expect for a story based off of that story. And it even made me legitimately laugh out loud, which is definitely worth a few points. It did feel a bit too fast, perhaps, which led to it whizzing by and leaving me a bit confused about what was going on at times. But still, quite a good effort!

Why is it so hard for people to grasp that transvestite means someone who dresses in the clothing of the opposite gender. It is not the same as transexual, or gender dismorphic.:facehoof:

That said, this story needed more donkey. And cowbell.:trollestia:

“You both heard me; hug!

Good. N-now, kiss.

That was a great little story.

I found this story while searching Fimfic for "Ghostbusters." I promise that I'll read it someday!
I also recently learned how to post .gif's.

Addendum: When I promised I'd read this "someday," I'd misread the word count & thought it had 28,000. It took me maybe 10 minutes to read the trilogy. That was fun. :moustache:
