Welcome to the Lunar Republic and the reign of Nightmare Moon. In Ponyville, the survivors of those first tumultuous years after the fall of Endless Night struggle just to feed the few who are left. In Canterlot a young stallion dreams of standing with honour before the First Citizen herself, while in the far north, an ancient evil dreams of southern conquests.
Chapter one of this story was the winning entry of the Hazardous Writing Materials and Challenges group's April 2016 competition.

Why does this story not have a Nightmare Moon tag?

I believe in waiting until a character appears in the story before adding his/her tag. Who knows, maybe she'll appear there, but maybe she won't...
Fluttershy is a vampire, Celestia and the mane5 are dead, the crops are ruined, Sombra returns. Is there any hope left ?
Of course Trixie would openly brag about being a secret agent. She never changes.
Reminds me of a novel I read once about parallel universes. They had this saying, "as regular as Elvis." Across most every universe, Elvis Aaron Presley was usually a singer or actor or entertainer of some kind.

Also, she saw these were Equestrian ponies, not crystal ponies. And they had seen her head anyway so they knew she wasn't a Crystal Pony. So, might as well just go with her instincts, and brag!

Well, I finally got around to getting through my unread chapters. I certainly enjoyed it, especially with Trixie being Trixie. She’s an excellent driving force for the story and for exploring the ominous happenings.
I couldn’t help but giggle at the mushroom bit, though.
