This was interesting, I wish there was more.
I can understand the appeal of using Lauren Faust's ponysona as a character, and it's certainly been implemented in creative ways, but dropping her actual name in here is jarring. Just "All-Mother" feels appropriate, and it suits the tone much better, I think. Otherwise, I do like this angle on chessmaster Celestia.
This is most certainly one of those stories that's in-between a standalone installment and a prologue. Alder is a concept that's very attention grabbing, but his time for characterization only leaves me wanting a more fleshed out version of him and this story. There's a lot of neat stuff here, but the completed tag feels like a bit of a burden/constriction to how the story could've gone. It's worth an upvote, though.
