You decide to go out hunting on the last day of the hunting season. You make it to your hunting area with ease, and there he is... in the trees... the buck of a lifetime. The chase ensues as you track the monster buck, but you slip and hit your head. Next thing you know your cold and lost, you eventually find a safe place and head toward it, what happens next... only makes your story better.
(I know that hunting is a little controversial but if you can get past the first chapter things change. Promise!)

All stories vary (obviously), I've read some that are laden with every little detail, some that are so broad that you end up having to think way to hard then you should. But, I'm always curious to how I could make something better. And yeah clichés, frankly I try to avoid them, but in some situations, i.e. timber wolves, but sometimes I cant get out of them, what exactly lives in the Everfree other then manticores and timber wolves? But yeah I hate clichés, but if I can avoid them I try.

While I'm not sure how to feel about a scope on a M1 Garend, your description of loading it is detailed but... if there's a scope, then where? The M1 Garend is a top fed rifle, similar to the 1903 Springfield and it's counterparts, the addition of a scope removed the ability to load by the clip, instead loading round by round. I'm not sure that is even possible with the M1, although I may be missing something here.

7072650 I thought the same thing but I searched and found that there are scopes for it. Both old (WWII at least) and new. Most of the new ones are part of a rail system that is mounted after the fact and the older ones come in a lot of different varieties... Some designed by the manufacturer and some not.

A few things wrong with the target shooting scene. Towards the end, you were calling the clips for the rifle "bandoliers." A bandolier is a strap that goes across your chest at an angle and holds something, in this case, ammunition for a M1 Garand. The cartridges are inside clips, yes I said clips.
