I had this exact thought when I saw the whole glowy light-show. Of course now I'm adding it to my head-canon that after the other 5 of the Mane 6 become alicorns the CMC do as well as their sisters wouldn't be able to live down watching them grow old and die.

Yeah, the CMC's process of getting the cutie marks was VERY different from the others that we've seen. My theory is that it was different because the three of them got their cutie marks together. Simultaneously. And I'm guessing that's a VERY rare thing to happen in Equestria!
...but yeah, I was thinking, "Wow! They're princesses now! Princesses of the Cutie Mark Crusaders!"
Glad to see I inspired you to make this fun little thing! That, I believe, is the first time I've successfully inspired someone to create a story.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing more if you have an idea for where to take it. I might not even mind helping with the proofing, if you asked.

If I continue (which, granted, several of you have voted for), I doubt I would attempt anything of greater quality than is in the first chapter, which was one hour of brain-spewing on an obvious idea. Also, I won't be able to poke fun at magical appearance-changing windows or inexplicable teleporting Apple Blooms. Okay, I can, but not because they're in the show.

Let's face it MLP is at its core a kids show, so either it gets suddenly cancelled (unlikely), or they go for the weird ending where everyone either become alicorns or at the least immortal, well with a movie coming up along with likely at least another season, the latter option seems most likely

This was a very well-written story. I enjoyed it.
You know, I could see this actually happening one day. Sometime in the future, when the CMC's have helped countless numbers of ponies discover their true destinies, I feel that their actions could grasp the attention of the royal sisters. One thing would lead to another, and in the end, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo would become the Cutie Mark Princesses. I mean, we already have princesses of the sun, the night, love, and friendship. What other roles could there possibly be if more alicorns were to appear?

Haven't read it yet, but I thought of something similar with that scene. That was a lot of magic for just getting cutie marks and I was thinking that the three actually did become an alicorn... singular. Now Apple Bloom has alicorn level earth pony magic, Scootaloo has alicorn level pegasus magic, and Sweetie Belle has alicorn level unicorn magic.
Also, anyone ever notice that Apple Blooms mark didn't match up with what was originally hinted at? Like, everyone thought Sweetie's talent would be singing, and she did get a music note in her shield. Scoots was always a toss up between dancing or some sort of sport stuff, and the lightning/wing was kind of on point with that. But Bloom's talent was hinted at being carpentry or design, and she ended up with a heart and apple.

I've always felt this site needed a "divergent" tag for stories that are canon up to a point then diverge. AU could mean anything as long as you somehow justify a connection to MLP-FiM.

I am continuing the idea of the CMC as alicorns, just not as part of this story, for reasons stated on the other side of one of those links. I am writing a series of stories on the idea (separate from this one), rather than more chapters or a sequel.
If I do a bonus chapter in my story, I'll definitely have to use that Big Mac idea.
Anyway, this is definitely more comedic than mine, but it was a nice, short read. And your cover art is more centered than mine. I'm envious, mine pulls slightly to the right.
