Yes, that was kind of my point. It's unnecessary (and even a bit mean) for you as the author to even bring it up if you're just going to smack him down. You could have easily stopped at "he'll be with Rarity as long as she's in heat." Or even not mentioned him at all. But instead you did, and then you added that next line too, and now I'm left wondering why? Why is that his fate here?
If I had to guess, it was either A) a throwaway joke, in which case I don't find jokes that make a butt-monkey of Spike to be very funny; or B) as I was saying in my previous post, it's a drawing of some strange, warped line of morality where Twilight getting incestuous with her brother is okay but Spike getting some action with Rarity isn't.
I'm aware this is a very minor detail that I'm nitpicking here but "Spike the butt-monkey" is a personal peeve of mine and it really drags down otherwise enjoyable stories for me. And I get that there's this inherent assumption when writing Twilight-centric smutfics that Spike needs to be "gotten out of the way" somehow, but in actuality, no mention of him at all is better than flippant dismissal like this.
The best thing about royal guards is that there are so many of them for each princess to enjoy.
