Short and sweet and lovely. Seems quite in keeping with Rarity, including why (even beyond promises) she might want to keep it secret.

The ending in particular was an excellent touch

Light and laughter,

I really enjoyed the set up on this one. Its well paced and kind of sweet ^_^.

A solid read in the Writeoff, and good to see it in its revised state. The beginning is much cleaner, and I still love the musings about childhood and lines like:

“We’re making boggart’s drought,” [Rarity] agreed.

Easy upthumb and fave. :duck:

I never:

Got to this one during the Writeoff, so it was all new to me, and very, very fine.

Well, that turned out rather nicely. I'll be honest, I wasn't really taken by the opening, but I really liked how it turned out. Rarity is spot on, of course.

Very sweet. And sad. Bittersweet? Something like that. This is about dementia, isn't it? Or just mortality in general. Poor Laurel. I was hoping to see a take on what a witch is like in Equestria, but that's one of the sad things about growing up -- we learn there are no real witches, no matter how much we want there to be.

That was nice. Not many folks have a light enough touch to balance whimsy with meaning.

And you should learn to keep your ladle in your own pot, darling.

Is that an actual saying or did you make that up, because it's absolute gold.

Perfectly wonderful.:raritystarry:

A nice story I think, but begs the question who Laurel is and is she actually hiding from something? Or just a old mare that doesn't like others and desires solitude, except for a bright spot named Rarity.

I reviewed this story!

It can be found here.

I really like this story. Over time the eager young apprentice becomes meals on wheels.

Well, there's a certain not-so-evil enchantress living in the Everfree, as well, who definitely qualifies as a witch doctor...

Excellent character study.

I think you tried to go for a character piece about Rarity, but at least for me it felt short, primarily because I felt Laurel's character is not given enough clarity, so Rarity's has nothing to bounce off of. Is she just an insane old lady? Does she have some more serious reasons for essentially living in exile? I think having an answer to these questions would affect how I perceive Rarity's attachment to Laurel, and would say different things about her. That said, Rarity's musings on her childhood were a good read, and in general her voicing was compelling.

his was a heartwarming read. Some great times of true friendship between these two.i know I would love to know more about Laurel, but one must give witches their privacy.

I remember thinking that Twilight's rant against curses was ill thought out in the show, myself.

I agree with 6282598. A clever way to suck me into a sweet story.

I'm not convinced that Rarity is quite the right pony for it, but she's probably the best-suited of the Mane 6.
