I apologize, but the idea for this one was just so much more appealing to me at the time. A New Era had only the one chapter, and the second chapter was giving me a lot of trouble with one particular scene, and not a whole lot of views/reads, so I didn't think I'd be doing that much damage. ALSO, it's on hiatus, not cancelled. Forgive me?

I kind of feel that is kind of your best work really... The first chapter alone is detailed and the best writing style you've done thus far. On top of that it's a much more appropriate chapter length. (Double Rainbow's 1,000 word average chapter length just wasn't enough a majority of the time), plus I felt it was a dip into a more serious story with adventure.
I don't like the decision not to go that route because it's "harder" or not getting as much attention. You're the writer, not the readers, when you write only what's popular, then there's little point in writing. I don't know, food for thought anyways.

It's nice that you've added that Clarke quote at the beginning, because I'm getting VERY powerful Space Odyssey vibes from all of this.
Your writing style, grammar and word use arepretty good, with minimal, negligible faults. I'm just wasting time though, time to get into the meat if your fic, the plot itself.
I like this. I really like the concept of Discord having a kind of his own and being a guardian force. Celestia's passing was decently handled, though I think you offed Luna perhaps a little too quickly. I find it rather interesting concept that ponies dive so deep into how they and magic functions. Really, the best way I can describe my feelings towards your fic is that it's interesting and sparks curiosity. It's not massively powerful, though that's probably because I'm already familiar with some of these concept, thanks to some sci-fi. With that said, not being powerful ain't a bad thing though, because at the same time, you hold the attention of the reader nonetheless.
All in all, I hope you'll continue soon. This was a nice read, I might give the rest of your stuff a shot as well in the meantime.

I don't agree with the eradication of an intelligent species, OR the destruction of known reality, but I don't feel that Discord should be treated like he's entirely in the wrong here. He's got righteous anger and goals, even if his means are not all that justifiable. (Also, Fluttershy met a human before this event? Something in this story I missed, or a reference to another work?)

Oh... favorited by a famous one... perplexing. Given the area you generally seem to write in around here, I can guess why you originally gave this story a chance, but might I ask why you're still on it? The concept may be intriguing, but the execution is awful! I'm a TERRIBLE writer. This story is absolutely full of dry and boring descriptions and little handwaves. Then you get to the most recent chapters where it turns into a series of one sided 'dialogues' that are really just massive expositionary information dumps...
I could go on all day about what I've done wrong, but I'd like to know what you think I've done RIGHT.

Okay, having read it now, I can say that it is extremely obvious that the universe they are in is the fanfiction itself, and the one really pulling the strings is the author.

o.O the theories on chaos make sense to me and i already knew a few facts about chaos but... i guess he does have some sort of ailment looking at things from that angle, freaky.
as for what i know of the balance of chaos and order, i'm not 100% sure of this but it seems to me that one can't exist without the other in some way (removing order or chaos from the equation would destroy all of existence... more or less), true there is no pattern or real logic to chaos as its i.e. pure unpredictability and... i've lost track of what i was going to say next for now :/ though a lot of this chapted makes a good bit of sense to me (poor discord

lol oh this is rich, you've in effect described the ending of the 3rd Star Ocean videogame here, granted its under a different theme with mlp:fim involved but its still the same overall. (i should know as pretty much any game i play is annoying memorized on the first play through >.> and so i know all about that game)
sorry to spoil this but ah well.
Quick change, replace the ponies with humans/humanoids, discord would be acting as our creator in this position (given they're current disliking if i read that right).
In the game we humans advanced far enough to cross dimensions and go outside of 3D space or what we percieve to be reality then enter 4D space or the "Real World", once that happened our "creators" or gods as we see it see us as a threat and as error/bugs in the system and so seek to "delete" us. Long story short, that plan backfires as the protagonists of the game defeat our God but not before the game (our world) gets wiped, however, despite being erased we still exist and only then realize that reality is what we percieve it to be and um.... i'm losing track of what i was saying there... and that is whats really... real, i think that was my point. i think
a few differences to the comparison but it still fits here (obvious would be discord and ponies)
edit: forgot to mention, the 4D beings in star ocean? yeah, they're humans, the same as us so that oughta give everyone who reads this comment a bit to think of hehehe (god created us in his image sound familiar? i'm not trying to start a fuss, just saying some stuff about that game series is all)
ugh, too much to remember, should've stopped and sorted that out more thoroughly before typing it :/ i know of over 500-1k+ games so i remember a lot and yet sometimes i can't remember specific details or they get mixed up so i may've gotten a tad... off, there somewhere
