Another way the events of "Rainbow Falls" could've transpired--with two alternate endings for the readers to choose from.
Note: NOT part of Dashverse. This takes place within the show's continuity or Canonverse.

And once again the guy who gets Dash the most knocks it out of the park! Excellent characterization, writing, and able to look at both sides of an issue. Brava.
Another solid story, and I have to admit I like the split ending, because it really shows the strength and diversity of Rainbow and her friends. All in all, rock-solid Rainbow Dash-ness.
Oh, man. This story had mixed feelings from me going in.
On the one hand, I am a major Dash fan. With her as the main character, this story had my interest. Add to that the author that writes the best Rainbow Dash I've ever seen outside her best episodes of the show? Of course I was excited!
On the other, though, the episode in question was one of my least favorite of Season 4. Amongst the one-note, tacked-on support characters in Pinkie, AJ, and Rarity, The scheming, seemingly out of character Wonderbolts, Dash's daft decision making, Fluttershy's apparent forgetfulness of stagefright, and Bulk Biceps' seemingly lost ability to fly and misplacement in the Games, I had plenty to gripe about in the actual episode.
...and starting out, this story seemed not much better, save for the first-pony perspective, which saved a lot of the exposition dump. Subbing out Bulk for Derpy was a smart move, though three of the Mane 6 remained about the same as they were in the episode. Fluttershy's misgivings helped in that they were at least acknowledged, though I still can't say it works, especially since apparently Cloud was free the whole time.
This is the part where I'll stop complaining. The Wonderbolts were perfect. The change you made in their characterization obliterated any lingering doubt in my mind that this was going to be great! Leading from there- I'll be brief, as I ran out of time typing this- the conflict changed from a frivolous, telegraphed answer to a difficult, real internal conflict. I haven't read the Cloudsdale ending, but you fixed one of the most broken episodes of Season 4 without any insanely major changes to the overall plot. Bravo, Trinary. Bravo.
I must say that I like this ending idk why I guess because it teaches them more of a better lesson
awesome story
Wow, both endings work.
5813596 I actually find the episode as is to be my third favorite of the season, and the best Rainbow Dash episode as well.
In fact, I actually think that it works perfectly the way it is. Yes, I just called Rainbow Falls perfect.
I've come up with explanations for why everything in the episode works exactly the way it is, or at least why it doesn't bother me...
To put this in perspective, while many people feel that Rarity Takes Manehatten is one of the better episodes of the season, it's in my bottom 4 for the season and my least favorite Rarity episode overall.
I love this so much! Well done.
I thought you might like to know that I have spotlighted this story over in the YMLT group. Also, since I am
an idiota bit forgetful, despite actually doing a mini review of this I never commented - so have the mini-review in it's entirety:Just from this chapter it's going to be way better than that boondoggle of an episode, which really, really sucked for the record.
*Applauds*
God, this is so much better than the actual episode it's not even funny.
That's one evil picture of Rainbow Dash you have.
6003036 THAT's certainly true. It was easily my least favorite episode of the season...and so far the only one where I wanted to smack just about all the mane 6.
Ok yeah the alternative is quite fine (and makes too much sense lol). This really touched on something I'd thought about, mostly in passing, on various occasions. Glad I took the time to read this one.
Interesting
THANK YOU for fixing this trainwreck of an episode.

I agree even if was just a game that doesn't mean don't try to win. Applejack was distracting the team rarity was so busy trying to show off her fashions that the team wasn't getting any practice time. Twilight was so busy trying to keep everyone happy that she never thought about the fact that everyone likes to win and if rarity and Applejack don't stop distracting the team they won't even be close to be able to win.
Well done. This was a great one-shot! Rainbow would definitely choose Ponyville.
