Passover has come and gone, and all that remains is the trial before the Crucifixion. Jesus is in the temple gardens, praying for strength for the coming ordeal, when a stray thought turns into a prayer for some kind of comfort before he leaves. That prayer is answered not in the spirit, but the flesh, as a certain yellow pegasus pays him a rather unusual visit.

In honor of Good Friday.

You touched my heart man....now take this praise to your heart before this comments section becomes a huge messy religious debate!

5816106 Thank you. :pinkiesad2: You just made it worthwhile.

This was one of the best stories I have ever read, all the more so because I was expecting something bad. Thank you.

There's too much hatedom going on around here. I for one liked this work.

I don't get it why this story has so many down votes.....I for one liked it:)

It was a decent read, not really my preferred medium, but a good one for Fluttershy's character.

Realistically though, people shouldn't instantly see something religious and downvote it for no good reason. This story was at least decently written and apparently thought out.
If I go make a story about the Greek pantheon, or the Aesir, I doubt very much that it'll get some reactionary knee-jerk down votes (unless there's a fundy reading it or something and thinks Satan's infiltrating fimfiction). Why should a story about christian mythology garner them?

People, I'm not religious myself, but I'm not down voting this story just because it's about Jesus.

This is honestly adorable and it also gave me a few ideas from this. Not for all, but ideas none the less. Anyway, good story. I personally want to a sequel where equestria goes into religious turmoil.:pinkiecrazy:

Though I am personally not interested in the story, I would like to apologize for all those people who see a religious story and instantly downvote it.

I'm adding this to my favorites!!!
Emotional turmoil, and chocolate binge, bound to happen...

I'm Glad there are still brave enough to talk about religion. Have a good day...

Instant downvoting like this is why I think that before you can up or downvote a story this site should implement on the back end a form of read detection. IE First check and see if the IP address voting followed the link to the first chapter of the story, then spent enough time on the page to have read it, then if the page has been open for a reasonable amount of time for reading allow an upvote or downvote. On top of that regardless of what type of vote is submitted a comment on the story be required for the vote to count and the comment must be of a minimum length and would show the type of vote submitted.

That would curb (but not prevent) "downvoting to oblivion" and also curb (but not prevent) popular authors from hitting the feature box within minutes of posting a new story. It wouldn't be a perfect system but it would be the most "fair" one I could come up with.

Here I go ranting and I forget to say how much I enjoyed the story. This could actually work as the prequel to a longer tale that I would happily read. Have my non-anonymous upvote! Maybe give a look to Pilgrim if you wan't to see a different take on Equestria and the Divine commingling.

I'll be honest: I was expecting to hate this story. However, surprisingly enough... I didn't. I mean, it had some weird issues within it (Why/how did Jesus have a bible, for example) but despite that... I actually kind of enjoyed this story. Sure, this is kinda touchy territory for a story, but this story was fairly respectful with it, and for what it is, it's actually... pretty well done. I... I don't know what else to say, except that this was better than I expected. Good story. Cheers

5816861 That bible was his one miracle. It was the only chance for Fluttershy to get one, so God bent reality a little for him.

Holy cow! This is really good. Thank you so much for writing this, cute, touching story. There is not enough of these in the fandom.

Add in Jesus and wow... great job!

Also, as a former missionary my self, i am more then happy to formally welcome fluttershy into the fold haha

Amen! Hallelujah! Everyone deserves a bit of kindness. You have the spiritual gift of Creative Expression for the Gospel. As for the positive critiques- you might learn from them. But for mockers- ignore them, "Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. " Proverbs 9:7 NLT. Keep on using your gifts, Architect!

Cute story. Not pushy in regards to religion. And well written to boot!:pinkiehappy:
Nicely done.

Very cute, good job of staying in character both for Fluttershy and He Who Was, and Is, and Is To Come.

This is a really touching story to say the least. A well done piece of work and a really good way to commemorate Good Friday.

I'm glad you made this story and I'm glad I could enjoy it.
It was pleasant for me to read, on a number of levels. Thanks for writing it

Believability in art is a very big deciding factor in weather or not I, personally, like the work (at this point, I feel I should note that I am a Christian) so the way you explained plausibility/justification for the story in the notes really nailed it for me... which is nice because now when I read this section of scripture in the future I can remember this lovely little story ^.^

Overall It's hard for me to explain, but, just-- thanks. I enjoyed this on a number of levels

Bless ya ma fellow brony brother in Christ :raritywink:

I believe who votes and if they're read it are already known, at least to the mods. But you cannot compel comments in exchange for a vote, nor would anyone tolerate that.

As for the feature box, votes are only a small part of the algorithm. View-count, comments, upvotes, and time-of-day are other factors included.

Since that's the second time I've seen some variation on that picture being used today, I do want to make one comment:

That's a really small scale for ponies.

5819357 It's a placeholder. I've got a custom art on the way.

:rainbowdetermined2:.....niiiiiiice. :rainbowkiss:Now I want a sequel on how the others will react to what fluttershy will tell them!:fluttershyouch: that is.....if you want to....

Unfortunately, there is no sequel planned at this time. To write a sequel, I would need a plot, and I don't have one. I also don't know enough about religious conversion (or resistance to it) to be able to portray it well, which would result in the flame war that this fic has through some miracle avoided (Many thanks for that, btw). However, if any of you have a plot in mind, feel free to write it.

Seriously, why is there so much Jesus fic around here?

Oh wait, I know, easter, right?

That piss me to no end, especially when everyone's saying love Jesus and all that. What about Ēostre? Easter isn't even about Jesus, it's the Ēostre. You can't just kick a god out because you don't like her, than complain that people don't like your god.

I demand equal rights for all religions.

And for those wondering, I'm joking. Kinda hard to be piss off by Ēostre being forgotten when I don't know her well, actually I've never met her before, so excuse me for not standing up for a total stranger.

This is just my opinion so Please don't hate-comment me back, but I don't think all religions should be treated equal at all. That's just an insult to the vary nature of free speech in general. If a person want's to write a fanfic about Jesus and Ponies, and then some ass-hat says "Nope, there's not enough Buddha or Odin fics, so you can't write yours, sorry!" That's just stupid. Times change, and the world changes with them. Those who don't, are doomed to obscurity... And a distinct lack of pony fics written in there honor:pinkiehappy:

You didn't notice the white text, did you?

5820529
Well... Now I'm the Ass-hat :facehoof:
Thanks

5820578 It's fine, at least you weren't swearing.

5820522
But here's a serious phrase for all of us

Deuteronomy 12:32
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Some of the more... 'devoted' believers may condemn any fan fiction of Jesus. It may not be the atheist that's downvoting, it may the the believers instead.

5820540
Sorry, my bad. Sometimes I see people opining on something like theirs is the comment to end them all, and I just want to argue with them for the sake of the fact that they sound so uppity. I should have picked up on the sarcasm.:facehoof:

Bravo, great story! Thank you for writing it.

Is it me or is the down votes arthieat or satanic people downvoting

It's Good Friday. I'm a practical Catholic. I just finished watching The Passion of the Christ as is my tradition on this day. I feel compelled for reason to check out FIMFiction, and lo and behold, I find this story. Firstly, grammar-wise there are quite a few mistakes. "Nazareth" has an "e". I'm also well-versed in theology, and there is a bit of theological iffy-ness. But it could have been so much worse. So much. Overall, it's pretty decent faithful story. You earned a like from, but not enough to earn to earn a favorite. God bless you, and have a blessed Easter. :scootangel:

I do not consider myself a Christian (although I do respect Jesus's teachings), but I have to say I did enjoy this fic. It was very heartwarming and cute. Here's hoping that Equestria doesn't abuse the faith like humanity did. Their founding principle of Harmony will complement it quite nicely, methinks.

Also, 'tis a Good Friday miracle that this story didn't get mobbed by overly self-righteous "fedora atheists."

I'm not devout, I'm not really religious...but I did like this story. Boil it right down, and you've got a good man who knows he's facing a terrible ordeal but receives comfort and friendship from one of the sweetest, kindest ponies in all of creation.

And who wouldn't want a visit from Fluttershy when they're facing a dark time? I would.

I'm both relieved and surprised that there is little to no hate coming at this story (besides the down votes :ajbemused:), anyways I like the fact that you wrote this story it says a lot about you.

I'd go to a mass preached by Fluttershy any day!

5820822 Pretty much, or grammar Nazi's.

My thoughts on the story:weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/inside-a-british-army-tank.jpg
A very nice story to read before the day of Jesus' ascendance and legacy he left.
img.memerial.net/memerial.net/5722/aliens-are-taking-me-jesus.jpg

I expected this either to be a trollfic (naturally, because someone put that tag on this story) or to be doctrinally incorrect. However, the first suspicion was wrong, and the errors (Him expecting to face a woman instead of a pony. as for lazy disciples, I don't think Jesus would have thought of them in those terms, and as for the devil, it is clear from scripture that the devil will never be forgiven, as witness the Book of Revelations, which features him being permanently cast into a lake of fire for eternity) do not stop this story from being fantastic. Thanks, and may God be with you!

Funny, good read, +1 veggitale cuccumber

Nah, just kidding.^^ I´m pagan so I just enjoyed this well written story.

What the world wouldn't give for an actual bible directly from Jesus and not the one we have now XD after all there's so many books and gospels and accounts that were rejected by the church during the first few Councils and lost, not to mention the fact that much of the bible was written down decades after the fact (the oldest parts of the New Testament are dated to around 30-40 AD if my memory serves right, letters from one of the Apostles to some of the early Churches) plus of course this is direct form the Man himself so mistranslations aren't going to be an issue either.
Equestria would have an even better understanding of Christianity than we do, and we originated the religion xD

That said I do hope he omitted some of the stuff about eating babies, genocide and such things. The poor ponies would be horrified. Though granted most of that is Old Testament/Tanakh stuff.

I'm nowhere near religious, or if I am the closest I would describe myself is having 'Buddhist leanings', and though I respect the figure of Jesus and his teachings I honestly came into this story expecting it to have some cringe-worthy fundamentalist or evangelist subtext. I was pleasantly surprised however by the story and I'll upvote and favourite it, one of the few religious fics on here that I'll add to my favourites. Just goes to show that however you much might agree or disagree with what the Christian Churches have done with the figure and teachings of Yeshua the man himself was a pretty awesome guy.

5825713

Christian Churches have done with the figure

I think it depends on the church in question. The one I go to, when I have time and not working on school stuff, uses The Bible to teach and we know that he was the Son of God and that he performed many miracles.
Now, one across the Ohio River in Huntington West Virginia, will only allow you to go to it if you make a certain amount of income.

Like I said, it just depends on which church.
