First I like the story. It's short well written and without the glaring errors found in some of the other stories. My only nit pick is the nine month pregnancy. Ponies have a gestation period of eleven months, unless you are using anthro ponies, then all bets are off. Besides with eleven months there is all that extra time for Shiny to panic.
My only gripe would be that Shining most likely isn't the Captain of the Royal Guard anymore. Since, you know, he has his own kingdom to run. Also, I think his title would be "Prince Consort," since while his wife is the ruling Princess, he is still considered royalty. Queen Elizabeth's husband is the Royal Consort, I think, he's not the King.
But those are minor head canon issues. Cute little story. I always love to read about offspring of the characters, and d'awws with Husbandhorse and Wifehorse is always a treat. Great job, friend.

My only gripe is that you seem to switch between past and present tense, but other than that, good job.

Yes and i do know about how people speculate that it means that later in the season, Cadence and Shining will be having a baby.
And I find the idea ironic considering my story and so awesome.
6274706 yes, well also, I doubt Princess Skyla will be the child of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor because she is part of a baby toy line which sells rainbow dash, sweetie belle and spike as babies when they are not babies anymore and skyla will also lead to too much alicorns and princesses, so I think that Princess Cadance and Shining Armor should either have an earth, unicorn or Pegasus colt instead.
6274908 I personally would't mind if Princess Skyla was their child or another original alicorn character, mostly because it would lead to more world building in the show in terms of the origins of alicorns. But like my story, I would love it to be a unicorn colt.
6277787 The reason why I would mind if they have an alicorns is because we are getting pretty much too much alicorns from what the creator wants and a filly will always find her way to becoming an alicorns princess when she gets older, I don't want Cadance and Shining Armor to have anything but either an earth, unicorn or Pegasus colt.
