Chapter 23: Modifying and Sentinels
POV: Karn / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - The Dojo
I'm standing on top of the Dojo now in my Vauban frame helping in the construction of the Landing Craft Hanger. It's been fifteen minutes since this Hawkeye gryphon was placed in a cell. Gilda is still in my Orbiter's incubator pod recovering and asleep while Ordis watches over her.
I weld down a support beam and see a carriage being pulled by four pegasi guards... Must be the Princesses.
Twilight then speaks to me through the comms on the Orbiter. "Karn. I just got a letter saying the Princesses will be here shortly," she tells me.
"They're already here," I reply. Everyone then starts to gather outside the Dojo.
I have my archwings equipped to allow me to move around the construction site more easily, so I fly down and land near the carriage. The three Princesses exit the carriage and thank the flyers.
Twilight and the others exit the Dojo and greet them as Twilight hugs Celestia and Cadence.
POV: Twilight Sparkle / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - Outside the Dojo
"Hello, Princess," I say to Celestia.
"Hello, Twilight. So where is Hawkeye?" she greets and then asks me.
"Karn put him in a cell until he can find out his intentions," I tell her.
"I see. Can you ask Karn to take us to him?" she asks me.
"Okay, hold on a minute," I reply. I turn to Karn who's now looking at me. "The Princess want's to see Hawkeye," I tell him.
"Fine. Tell her to follow me," he replies. I notice Cadence fawning over Shining again as they kiss each other. I then see Karn looking at the others. "Break time is over! Get back into your frames and continue your training! I want you to pair up and spar with one another with the training equipment!" he tells them. We've all had blunt and harmless versions of our melee weapons made to practice with on each other.
Once the others have all gone to get their frames from the barracks, I look back to Celestia. "He said follow him," I tell her.
"Very well," she replies and follows him into the Dojo. We step into the elevator where Luna looks confused.
"What is the purpose of this small room? And why is it barren of any furniture?" Luna asks.
I couldn't help but smile at what was about to happen. Karn hit's a button on the wall next to the door and the elevator starts to move down quickly. Luna and Cadence squeal while Celestia just goes cross eyed at the sensation. I couldn't help but let out a light giggle at their expressions.
We arrive at the bottom of the elevator and the doors open. Luna stumbles out while Celestia lightly shakes her head. Cadence is gripping onto Shining to help keep her balance.
We follow Karn to the prison cells and he opens the door to Hawkeye's room. He steps aside and Celestia walks in.
"Hello, Hawkeye. I see you've been given some nice accommodations," Celestia says to him while looking around.
Hawkeye looks up from the book he's reading. "Greetings, Princess Celestia. And yes, this is rather comfortable for a prison cell," he replies with a chuckle.
"So, how did you find yourself in here?" Celestia asks with a hint of amusement.
"I do not agree with our new Kings methods, and as such have come to offer any aid I can in preventing the war he wishes to wage against the world," he replies.
I frown in confusion. "The world? I thought he wanted to invade Equestria?" I ask.
"He does. Equestria is just the first in his path to world conquest," he tells me.
"And how do you know this?" Celestia asks.
"Princess. You wound me with your words. You know full well I can listen in on anyone, and I've been keeping close to the King for a good solid month before coming here," he tells her.
"I know what you are capable of Hawkeye. So how did you plan on aiding us?" Celestia asks him.
"I planned to met with the new creature that has recently arrived and see if I could be of assistance," he replies.
"And how would you assist a creature who is practically unstoppable?" she asks.
"Hmmm, I guess I didn't think of that. I just heard from the other spies that a strong creature showed up in Canterlot and repelled the Changelings single talonedly. I didn't think he was this advanced, I was quite surprised at what I saw when I first arrived," he says.
"And what will you do should he not accept your aid? He doesn't even trust our guard to join him, the chances of a gryphon joining him is even lower," she tells him.
"I see. Well then, I shall stay here until such a time I can earn his trust," he says.
I tell Karn everything that was said.
"So they do know each other... Well I still won't let him wonder around just yet. If he's fine just waiting here until then, so be it. Please tell the Princesses that and escort them out. I've got a Hanger to build."
POV: Karn / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - Inside the Dojo
I head back up after the Princesses left and continue working on the Hanger. The drones and I build for an hour before I get hungry.
I decide to get something to eat and call the others together. "Alright you lot. It's lunch time, so stop what you're all doing and meet me in the Mess Hall. I've got something to go through with you all," I say through the comms.
"Okay, Karn. I'll see you there," Twilight replies. The others also agree to meet at the Hall as well.
I head down and into my Orbiter where I store my archwings and Vauban frame. I blink my eyes open and stand up from my Somatic Link Chair with a stretch of my limbs. I really need to walk around more, my limbs are stiffer than Darvo's prices for raw materials these days.
Once limber, I walk out of my Orbiter with Nightshade right behind me following along. I enter the Dojo and make my way to the elevator and then down to the Mess Hall. I make my way to the back where I see Pinkie and Applejack cooking food using ingredients both from the town and the Aeroponics labs.
"Howdy, Karn! Just a moment and I'll have this here pie ready fer eatin'," Applejack greets me as Pinkie waves at me.
"Hello, Applejack. Pie sounds very good right now," I reply and sit at the table where everyone else is waiting.
"So what did you want to speak to us about?" Twilight asks.
"Now that you're more accustomed to your warframes and weapons, I will be giving each of you your own sets of mods for your gear. These will increase the effectiveness of your equipment. Like my Lex for example." I say and pull out my holodisk to create an image of my pistol. " It's been modified to have more ammo to fire as well as a corrosive added to the bullets," I tell them.
"So what kind of mods are there?" Rainbow asks.
"Many. Some effect your shields and the strength of your frame's armour. Some add a better radar for both enemy detection and locating useful resources. Some add different effects to weapons such as; heat, electricity, toxin, and cold. These can also be combined to create a new damage type. Heat and cold can be combined to make the blast type. Your bullets or blade will cause small explosions on contact," I tell them.
"So I take it your corrosive bullets is a mix of two then?" Twilight asks.
"Yes, it's a mix of toxin and electricity," I reply.
"I see. So how do you modify weapons and warframes?" she asks again.
"You alter the mod chips at the modification table in your personal rooms, you can also increase their effectiveness with a substance called endo. Then you take the modified chips to your armoury where they can be installed or removed," I tell her. "Once we finish lunch. We'll get my box of unused mods I've saved over the years. You can go through them and pick what ones you'd like best. But you all must have a heat mod for one of your weapons to fight the Technocyte with."
"Sweet!" Rainbow says and starts stuffing her face once the food arrives.
After a few chuckles and giggles were had, we finish lunch and head up where the others get back into their frames before we go to my Orbiter. We enter and I get the box under my mod table and place it in the centre of the room. "Alright, have a look through these and see what one's you like best. Your visors will display data on what they do," I tell them.
POV: Karn / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - Inside the Orbiter- One Hour Later
Over the next hour, they rummage through it and talk with each other and sometimes ask me questions about some mods. Once picked, we head back to the Barracks where they'll be installed.
"Okay first. We'll watch Twilight getting her's installed first so you can see how it's done," I say and follow Twilight to her armoury. "Alright. Twilight, please stand inside your armoury," I tell her.
"Okay," she replies and stands in the circle.
"Now. Place your mods in the tray to your right," I tell her. She places the mod chips onto the tray and they get digitised. "Now think to yourself that you want to install the mods," I tell her.
POV: Twilight Sparkle / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - Inside the Dojo
I do as he says and I float off the floor and I'm locked in place. A list of my currently equipped gear is showing on the visor of my frame's helmet. "I see a list of my equipment," I tell Karn.
"Good. Now I want you to select your Warframe by thinking that," he instructs me. I think to myself that I want to install mods to my warframe and ten panels appear with a list of my mods below it.
"I can see some panels and a list of my mods under them," I tell him.
"Right, now I want you to imagine dragging a mod from the list into one of the panels," he tells me.
I frown and imagine the modification named Flow to the first panel. I see it move to the panel and I feel something attach to me from behind. After a few seconds, I hear a beep and whatever is attached lets go.
I see a green circle on the bottom left of the panel and text indicating that it's installed. "Okay, it's installed. Do I do the same for the rest?" I ask.
"Yes. Install all the mods for each of your equipment," he tells me.
I install the other eight mods. The Energy Siphon mod allows me to gather void energy from around me and restore my warframe's energy slowly. I then install Streamline to make my warframe more energy efficient, Redirection to increase my shields, Intensify to increase the power of my abilities, Fast Deflection to increase the recharge of my shields, Anti-Toxin to increase my resistance against the Technocyte's toxins, Natural Talent to reduce the time needed to use an ability by half, and then Stretch to increase the maximum range of my abilities.
"Okay, all of the mods are installed," I tell him.
"Now imaging going back to the equipment list," he tells me and I do as he says. "Now select your Dera and install the mods for that," he says.
I open the mod screen for my Dera and it only has four panels instead of ten. I then start installing the mods for it. A Speed Trigger for increased rate of fire, Wild Fire for twenty percent increased magazine size and heat damage, Hellfire for even more heat damage, and a Magazine Warp for another thirty percent magazine increase size.
I do the same for my other weapons as well. My Cestras have Lethal Torrent to increase rate of fire and making the bolts of energy fired split, causing the bolts to spread a bit more. Convulsion to charge the bolts with electricity, Steady Hands to reduce recoil, and Slip Magazine for increased magazine capacity.
My Prova has Shocking Touch to increase it's electrical damage even more, Focus Energy to add more Electrical damage and makes channelling energy through it more efficient, Energy Channel so when I use one of my Warframes abilities, my Prova will get charged with some of the energy to increase it's next hit.
"Okay all done," I tell him.
"Alright. Now think to yourself that your done and you'll be put back down," he says.
I do so and I float back down. I step out and notice my shields are higher and my energy has gone from one-hundred to two-hundred and fifty. I can also see a small pulse next to my energy indicating my aura mod is functioning.
"Right then. Now all of you go and get your mods installed," Karn tells the others.
POV: Karn / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - Inside the Dojo - Thirty Minutes Later
The others also equip mods to increase their performance. Once done, we gather in the Barracks. "Alright the only thing left is to fabricate you each a Sentinel," I tell them.
"You mean like the thing that floats around with you and shoot things?" Rainbow asks.
"Yes. My Sentinel is called a Dethcube. It's primary function is to attack all enemies on sight and can hold more ammunition than the other Sentinels. It has a Deth Machine Rifle equipped to it and a special function called Vaporise, which fires a super heated beam at a single target now and then.
"The other types are the Carrier, which has a short attack range with it's Sweeper Shotgun but can collect anything valuable that your enemies might have on them and store them in it's hard-drive.
"The Shade is a stealth type Sentinel that can cloak it's owner in a weak but effective invisibility field for a few seconds when an enemy is too close, it also has a silent Burst Laser weapon to take out foes quietly.
"The next is called the Wyrm. It looks like a living creature but is made from synthetic nano spores, it is a crowd control type that can temporarily stun enemies attacking it's owner. It comes equipped with a Laser Rifle.
"The Helios is a scanning Sentinel used to gather data and information on objects and lifeforms. But it can also defend it's owner with it's Deconstructor, a Glaive like weapon it fires using electro magnets." I hear Twilight gasp at that one.
"The last one is an odd one and it's part machine and flesh. It's called the Djinn, It's primary function is to taunt nearby foes into attacking its owner. This is good for frames like the Rhino, Valkyr, Atlas, and Excalibur who focus mostly on melee combat. It fires small poisonous needles from a stinger attached to it," I finally finish telling them.
"So you want us to pick one that would best suit us?" Shining Armour asks.
"Yes. You have an hour to decide. I'll meet you all back here when you're ready," I tell them and get my Vauban and archwings before heading back up to the roof to continue the Hanger construction.
POV: Karn / Location: Equus - Equestrian Plains - On Top of the Dojo - One Hour Later
I weld the last support beam in place and look around. It's about five percent completed so far and still needs a lot of work done.
"We've decided what ones we want Karn. We're all waiting for you in the Barracks," Shining tells me over the comms.
"Alright. I'll be down there in a minute," I reply and head back down.
I walk into the Barracks and see them all waiting for me. "So you're all sure you know what ones you want? You can have other types made for yourself later, but right now you need one for when we go into the Hive," I tell them.
"We're sure," Twilight says.
"Good. Let's head back into Twilight's room and I'll show you how to use your Fabrication Tables," I inform them and walk into Twilight's room.
We're standing around her table. "Ordis had these altered with a bigger keypad so your hooves can press the buttons easier when you're not in your frames. As you can see here, there's four arrow keys. The up and down keys cycle through the current menu list, the right key selects the item on the list and the left key goes back to the previous menu," I tell them and let Twilight operate it.
She looks through the list and scrolls down to the Sentinels. She presses the right key and then scrolls down to the Helios. I couldn't help but smirk. She then presses right again and selects Construct. The arms on the table begin to slowly put it together.
"It should be ready within twelve hours. The rest of you go to your tables and build your own Sentinels. There should be plenty of resources from my Orbiter in the Dojo's Oracle to make them all. But please ask me first if you wish to make anything else. Although you can make ammunition if you need it," I tell them.
"Sweet!" Rainbow says and rushes to her room. The others follow behind her.
"So what do we do after these are made?" Twilight asks me.
"Once you've tested them out, we'll begin preparations to attack the Hive," I reply.
"This isn't going to be easy... Is it?" she asks in a worried tone.
"No, no it won't. Before we leave, I'll show you all a video of what a Hive will look like," I tell her.
"Yeah. That might be helpful," she replies and looks at her Sentinel being built.
"Don't worry, even if your frame is destroyed, you'll be fine and a new one can be made. The Technocyte have the advantage in the Hive as it will be tight spaces and very dark," I tell her and pat her on the shoulder a couple of times. "I'll be on the roof continuing with the Hanger," I say and head out the door.
"What is the Hanger for?" she asks me.
I look back at her and smile. "That'll be a surprise," I reply.

This was quite a bit of information on how the game works. He's acting like a rank 21 player instructing a bunch of rank 0 and 1 players on how to properly play the game. I tried playing Warframe on my PS4 and PC, and all i can say is that the controls confuse me
Doesn't help that my PC can only handle the game on the absolute shittiest settings and FPS is only about between 1 at worst and almost 20 at best. And that 20 is if i move slowly or stay still...
8093085 No offence but your PC must be pretty outdated. I run on max quality at 50 to 60 fps and the controls are simple to me. I think you're having issues with the controls due to the poor frame rate.

A buddy of mine got me interested in Warframe and it turned out that I had discovered the combo damage types early on accident while I was grinding for parts to make the warframe you can get from the first hub area
Now Karn? Now do you have very good reason to deal with the Griffins after we take care of that nasty technocyte virus?
I think Luna should be the one to say about this, and will still be peeved against Karn about NOW, he is finally taking action against the Griffins!?
