Sweetie dashed home quickly, diving into her saddlebags. Pulling out the spellbook Celestia gave her, Sweetie turned to the shield spell, and cast it. After a moment, she sighed, melting into her bed.
“Sweet release from headaches, hello.” Sweetie was still having trouble maintaining the spell, and she had been using the lower level one to this point. Sweetie slowly lowered the power of the shield, making sure she could maintain it from now on. Looking to the ceiling, Sweetie folded her arms behind her head, and pursed her lip.
‘Twilight said this spell is infinitely powerful, able to continue to grow well into Alicorn level, possibly even beyond. I hope she’s right.’ Sweetie sat up as a letter appeared above her, and opened it with her magic. Reading it, she smiled. Good, the Princesses were on their way. Sweetie had made sure not to tell Twilight or Rarity she was looping this time. Sweetie had even attended class.
“Alrighty, so now I just wait for midnight. Which is in...six hours.” Sweetie groaned, and flopped back on her bed. Silently, she wondered if there was a time-speed-up spell. Scratching her flank, she used her magic to pull out one of her books, already read, and opened it to read. Soon enough, she began to lose track of time, and it was ‘time for bed’.
“Goodnight Rarity.” Sweetie allowed herself to be tucked in, smiling pleasantly until Rarity closed the door. Flipping open her book, she closed her curtains, and waited. Soon enough, both Celestia and Luna appeared in the room. They were followed by a confused looking Cadance and Twilight.
“Good Evening Sweetie Belle.” Celestia bowed her head, and Sweetie pulled out Twilight’s looping note, handing it to the Alicorn. Soon enough, Cadance was caught more up to speed, thanks to Twilight’s notes. Sweetie looked to the four, and breathed in. There was a building hope in her chest. Would this be it?
“You know the spell right?” Twilight tilted her head, and Sweetie nodded, pulling it out. Spark, a small spell that jolted someone. It could be used to restart hearts. Of course, it would take the four a while to fully recover, but it was the best option they had. Sweetie politely talked with them, watching the clock slowly tick down.
“It is time.” Sweetie opened her window and door, cautious even without Philomena in the room. Watching the four, she gulped as their horns began to glow. After a moment, they all slumped, and the clocked ticked over. Sweetie watched their bodies like a hawk.
12.00
12.01
Sweetie pumped the air, the bodies were still there. Sweetie called upon her magic and cast the spell. Slowly, the four gasped to life, coughing as their bodies slowly uncurled, spasming as they recovered from their brief death. Luna was the first to stand, and she quickly cast a spell, checking to see if there was another version of her.
“There is indeed a second version of me at Canterlot. We are in the next week.” Luna helped Celestia and the others up, and Sweetie felt herself feel something she had been trying to quell. Hope had come true! Sweetie felt tears fall down her face, and didn’t care. She was so happy, now she wouldn’t have to loop alone.
So alone.
“I don’t feel too good,” Cadance groaned, holding a hoof to her forehead. All turned toward her, and Celestia smiled warmly.
“I am sure it will pass. I too feel slightly ill.” Celestia glanced to Twilight, who was looking at them strangely.
“That’s strange, I don’t feel-” Cutting herself off, Twilight’s eyes widened as a bright purple shield materialised around her, paper thin, and shattered. Pivoting, she pointed a hoof at Sweetie, and screamed as she tried to call upon her magic, and failed.
“Sweetie! Get out of the room!” Twilight’s voice called Sweetie into action, and she dived toward the door. One step, Cadance was starting to gray. Two steps, Twilight collapsed to the ground beside Celestia and Luna. Three, all four began to gasp for breath. And five, just one step from the door, they all stopped breathing. Sweetie stopped, and closed her eyes, bowing her head as she heard them collapse into ash. Collapsing, she covered her head with her hooves, and began to sob.
“What was different?” Sobbing, she repeated it over and over again. Eventually, her cries quieted, and she heard a sound in the hallway. Standing up, Sweetie stepped into the hallway, and looked right. Blinking, she immediately recognised Opal but the mouse was something that filled her with instant disgust and revulsion. Opal was tossing it around with her paws as the poor thing squeaked, fear in it’s black eyes.
“Hey!” Sweetie shouted loudly, running forward to try and stop Opal. Opal glanced toward her, and grabbed the mouse in her mouth, biting down and snapping it’s neck. Sweetie stopped, and bit back her words, shocked by the action. Opal dropped the mouse, licked her paws, and walked away.
Sweetie walked back into her room, closed the door, and broke down crying again.
Well then...
Well
It doesn't work
Well, that didn't work.
Damn. An Ultimate Princess Slumber Party followed by a quadruple regicide? Best. Night. EVAH!
They really should have performed animal testing first.
Please tell me if its a good end to this story!? because with all this dark and sadness, I want to see some happy light in my favorite CMC's future!!!
5674692
They kinda did. Remember Philomena?
Opal doesn't seem to be consistent between loops. How long until Sweetie notices?
Oh boy... if they poofed away, I really hope they don't act hostile to sweetie now.
Well that didn't work.
Oh... so THAT's what's happening this loop...
Well, it sorta works, but could've been better... I wonder if there will be a full success or at least a better result, if they repeat the experiment differently... or if there's no changing the result?
Typo: reconised
They are alive around half a minute... maybe they could put a memory spell before die for their clones? Even so, it's strange, Philomena was okay, but Celestia and company no... Maybe because they have too magic?
If you accept suggestions, what about try to fool Discord one loop so that he stay with her?
5674990
I think the reason Philomena was fine is because Phoenixes are immortal. Contrary to popular belief Celestia and Luna are not immortal. They are long lived. It was stated in "the journal of the two sisters" that the reason they never seem to age is because they draw magic out of the sun and moon every dusk and dawn. That's what's been keeping them young and healthy for the last thousand years. However, while they probably won't die of old age, Sun Butt and Moon Butt are just as mortal as anypony else.
Hmmm... Why did Twilight tell Sweetie to get out of the room?
If she could have made it out, would it have worked, or was she just grasping at straws?
This requires multiple tests. A single failed trial does not mean it's impossible.
5674874 AAAAAH!!!
5674810 They won't, because Twilight and other ponies haven't yet that died because of her. Only AB, Scoots, DT, and SS. Which is very inconsistant.
5675616 I think it was more that twilight didn't want sweetie to see them all die, cause she's a child
Okay seriously I hate to say it but this story needs to wrap up soon simply because this has gotten waaay to dark and is borderlining on Sweetiebuse story.
I usually like dark, but seriously? Also what is up with the frakking cat! ? She needs to drag Opal into the room with her one time as it ticks over.....
Then again as opal seems to be either the instigator of things or at least aware of them also she seems to change each time the clock rolls over too.......
5674810 Well she killed Twilight once already so the hatred is the effect of a drain spell which can be shielded.
5674784 Holy shit. I didn't even notice.
5675899 well I too would like to see sweetie dragging opal with her through the loops just to get rid of the idea that doing so could be her way out.
and the idea that opal=wizard
~Leonzilla
No! My hopes and dreams of sweetie looping with the princesses are ruined! Wait! What if Sweetie tries again but goes out of the room immediately after loop. Wait! But that won't work because the next time Sweetie goes into the same room as the princesses they would die.
5674784
I’m pretty sure Opal is Starswirl. He transfered his mind in the cat and is now looping with Sweetie Belle.
What happens if Sweetie runs though multiple rooms after it turns 12?
Aaaaand Alicorn of time: Sweety~
immortal ponies?
Y U NO IMMORTAL!??
5675313 Well yes and no as the Phoenixe do in fact age how ever when they reach the point where they "die" they burst in to flames and are reborn from the ashes. Most myths have them living up to 500 years between death and rebirth that is why when Sweetie first had her in the room she was put in to the death loops as the flames from Philomena's death and rebirths. Oh and do keep in mind "immortal" dose not mean unable to die just realy hard to die but death is still something that can happen out of every one I would peg Discord as some one that could live from one loop to another but highly unlikely that well happen.
This chapter made no sense. [Read comment below].
5678963
While that's technically true. It makes no sense that ponies who've lived unaging for thousands of years (plus however long they lived before Discord's imprisonment) would magically age like that. Especially 4 minutes after the loop rather than instantly past that. Twilight and Cadance, I can see that since Cadance has aged in canon, and Twilight's a new alicorn.
But the two sisters are unaging and have practical immortality. The first makes the age to dust thing automatically infeasible. The second makes them more physically resilient, but I call bull hock on them dying. Since if they haven't ages since we see them face Discord, and a thousand years after Luna’s fall, Tia hasn't aged. Those two dying is infeasible.
As for Discord saying thousands of moons than years, that makes no sense sine a 100 moons = 8.1years, and a thousand = 81 years. Thus since it wasn't hundreds of thousands would make his banishment after Luna’s banishment.
5681580 Maybe this will help you understand the possibility of the loop still ending the princesses. First Twilight and cadence where regular ponies one a unicorn the other a pegisi, and both of them managed to become alicorns, so immortality isn't a given with those two but still an immense level of magic would reside in their bodies from the three tribes fussing to one form. Next it was never explained in cannon how celestia and luna became alicorns weither by birth or an assension, Now assuming they were born alicorns the would have an inharently greater amount of magic in their bodies that would make them immortal or near immortal and with how most ponies are tied with magic based on their tribe is shown by the abilities they are more prone to such as earth ponies working better with the earth it's self, pegisi with the air, and unicorns with active control of magic in general. Now with how much magic is tied into ponies it is safe to assume their has to be a certain amount of magic still in the body or else it would fail and then would make it very possible to kill an immortal pony a.k.a an alicorn by draining enough magic from it's body. Now for the time delay it could be a delayed reaction from the loop realizing their are two of the same being in the world when their shouldn't be and corrected itself preventing a paradox though this is really just a guess at how to logically explain the delay I could be way of course from what ever reason the writer decided to do that
5686749
The first two I can give you, and stated being made Alicorns, and Cadance showing to age it makes sense. But the two sisters.
Yes they have immense magic, but with Tia and Luna have been shown in canon to incorporate the celestial energy to go incorporeal / project their essence elsewhere [Luna in Sleepless in Ponyville where she is superimposed on the moon, Tia in entering a demi-plane where she can view all the actions of a targeted individual]. Never mind that they have had the entirety of thei magic given to another without ill effect.
Since they tied their magic to their source, their source would replenish their magic. Since the sun and moon didn't implode, their deaths make less sense.
I can see them being transformed into Celestial energy and slammed into their doubles. The doubles gaining memories of the loops, and it being a rather painful to uncomfortable experience, and it being something they can't handle doing. But them ashing makes no sense. Since they are hoked up to celestial sources of immense power.
But yeah, Twlight instaformed after ashing and saw the world die. I do wonder if she did something similar afer each personal death loop.
5687024
I like to think of it like this. The spell is designed to concentrate magical energy into the caster. However, it also has various side-effects of a temporal nature. One being that the caster gets offset back in time by a week, the second is that any being who's magic is drained by the spell will experience accelerated ageing.
We already know that the Princesses are not immortal. They do still age however slow it may be, and given enough time without any chance to recharge they will eventually die.
So all that's happening then, is that the spell is forcing them to experience countless aeons in an instant effectively ageing them into dust.
5736216
Actually from what we've seen they are immortal. From the fight of Discord, thousands of years ago. Until modern times. They have not aged a single day. The only one who has aged was Luna when she was regaining the powers and energy stripped from her, from the EoH until she reached the age she was when she turned into NMM.
They fit the trope Complete Immortality with the Neigh Invulnurability, being, hard to injure (it takes a lot to do so, but it's possible. Although you have to be at Alicorn / greater pwoer to do so.). So With that being said. Immortal they are. Even their tropes, say so (well they fit them into http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PhysicalGod which they also are.).
So no, it doesn't make sense. Yes, it drains magical energy. But they who are tied to the sun and moon to use as a psionic source to boost their powers. Since the Sun and Moon didn't explode. Or collapse, or get turned into nothing as Sweets sucked in all their magics. I call bullocks on them dying. It's metaphysically, and scientifically impossible. And yes, death from anything past aging I could buy. But they are UnAging, as in have not aged once in thousands of years, and no show canon proof to show they are aging, or except Luna (between Summer Sun Celebration, and Nightmare Night after her return), have aged.
Thus that really doesn't fly. And also with the links, show they are Immortal. Complete Immortality.
groaned
I actually thought Celestia and Luna would survive... I guess not though...
5736705 Little late to the party and behind on the story but i want to throw my 2 pence out there anyway. What if it isn't the time aspect that is killing them (or anyone/thing who stays in the room). What if it is a magical drain of everything in the room. Would explain the deaths without a hitch (celestia and luna have more magic and so last longer) and it could well be that everything has a small amount of magic that sustains life in all creatures (and so when philomena was in the room it "killed her" and then she renewed it with a rebirth and it "killed her again and so on). It would also explain the headaches as it is drawing to sweetie and having to remagic her bag to make it bigger every week.
I've probably missed something glaringly obvious or the next few episodes really explain it and i was way off but hey it was fun
HEYwait a minute. exactly a minute. Which had already passed. Someone explain why they died!
6231468 the loop master wouldn't allow it to pass.
Opal is different each week. Is opal being controlled or something? This is the first time sweetie saw opal with a mouse...
5736705
no, I think you have to be truly immortal. Ignoring Twilight and Cadence, both Luna and Celestia have ways of dying. They're linked to magic sources sure, and a lot of other things to keep them unaging and undying, but they're NOT truly immortal. I think the loop is simply skipping all the magic links that keep them alive.
I think the only two creatures of beings that are truly immortal are phoenixes and Discord. They are the only ones that can truly survive the loops.
Phoenixes because while they have a 500-year life, they have infinite life cycles. If, say, a phoenix only had 1 billion life cycles, a total of 500 billion years, I think it would still die. The reason is explained in a post I made quite a number of chapters ago. But essentially, ALL of creation and reality is being squished and compressed to the 1 second in between the start of Sweeties loop and the end. So that when she loops, technically, ALL of reality is looping. It explains why nothing truly immortal can live. This also means that both Discord and Phoenixes could outlive time. And, it means Sweetie is around a couple quintillion, perhaps, septillion years old.
In the end, you have to be truly immortal. Not just the wish wash magic held immortal that the princesses are. Technically, they are able to live extremely long during the reset, but, because all ofthe reality is resetting, they lose all magical links while in the split second they loop through all of time.

Wow ... in the wordiest way possible. You've showed that you are unable to read what was written. If you did. You'd have seen the links. If you followed the links, you'd have seen that they fit Complete Immortality. Here's an excerpt on bits you may have missed. Seeing as you totally missed the point.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CompleteImmortality
And
Now I know it may be difficult for you to click a link. Like last time. But they are the green things that when you place a cursor over them send you to other pages.
But in the link to Ageless (As well as Time Abyss) under Western Animation My Little Pony and the Pony Princess (Celestia and Luna) can be found on them. On the Link to Neigh Invulnerable both Tirek and Twilight get mentioned (again under Western Animation).
The Link on Physical Gods also shows the Princesses. So for Complete Immortality. They fit the trope. As does The Ageless with mentioning probable Complete Immortality.

As for again. Cosmically Missing the Point. Was the fact that you (like so many others) don't get what immortality actually means. I mean ... True Immortality? Yet, ignoring what actual immortality means? Here is what is Immortality (and all of them are truly immortal. Since they are in fact immortal. And as you pointed out while ignoring the point. Immortality is a rainbow of forms. Not just a single version.).

Now that is not only logical, but as you said. Was something that constantly killing Philomena (despite her Regenerative Immortality.). It turned out that the spell did in fact suck in magic. And was filling her up with super amounts of it. Which was indeed the reason behind her headaches. Well that and Starswirl was a F-tard.
You deserve a cookie.

You just made my day.
