So, Meester doesn't like the idea because its either relies too much on references made in your stories, or its just too "new" of an idea, or both?
Well, if you want my opinion; do it anyway. True, making references to your own work might irritate a few readers, but I've seen other FIMfic writers do the same thing with various spin-off stories, and they're doing just fine. If it's just a thing of being too new, than that means you one of the few people on any fanfic website to actually come up with something original, which is all the more reason to do it before someone else tries to, and takes the credit.
5292685 Well see the thing about that is that you are technically allowed to write meta stories. You just need to make sure that they're good. It's actually easy to write satire jokes about the fandom. Which is the reason why it's regulated so that fimfiction isn't overrun by stories making jokes about Fimfiction. If you really want to write meta, there are two ways to go about it. Some poeple use Human in Equestria (Or ponies on earth) as disguises for meta humor. and some just go for it.
But basically for you, either be good like this
