As for your story, I liked it.
Well it's kind of sad and kind of not, getting Luna back is a happy occasion, that it will take generations before all the ponies can embrace Luna fully is very sad. Just like with Luna being forgotten Luna being fully accepted once again won't really happen until a generation that grows up with her back on the throne comes and goes. Same with Twilight, after a generation or two ponies will doubt she wasn't born an alicorn princess, weather she is immortal or not. Being immortals the princesses have a unique opportunity to watch the gradual transformation of what is accepted as history goes though via retellings.
