As chief security officer aboard the colony ship Marathon, Rainbow Dash's primary job is to ensure the safety of all UESC military assets, including the A.I.'s Twilight, Pinkie, and Trixie. Additionally, it's expected that she put some effort towards keeping the crew and colonists alive as well.
It seemed easy enough when she signed up. Unfortunately, she's late on her first day, and things rapidly go downhill from there.
This is a crossover with Marathon by Bungie.

Good opening! If I remember right, Leela's job on the ship was 'general oversight and administration' and she wasn't the one responsible for putting ol' Durandal in charge of DOORS, but I could be wrong. And maybe this is just part of not making them act exactly like their official Marathon counterparts. Idunno.
Anyway, still a very good opening! I love RD asking the Pfhor if they've seen any aliens around, and the return of percentages.

1122087 If there was one thing I learned while writing the first version of this story, it's that it is very difficult to find out precise details about anything in the Marathon universe. Did you know that the canon timeline for major events apparently has some major discrepancies and apparent contradictions? If they have been worked out, I haven't seen it. So, you are correct in that I'm just making some stuff up now. I actually don't remember where it is said what Leela's actual job was, so I just assumed it was security. Administration makes more sense, I guess, and actually fits Twilight better, so I guess I'll change it.
Also, Twilight didn't put Trixie in charge of doors, the UESC did, but Twilight did delegate some of network security to her, at least in this story. Some things I'm changing to make it easier on the reader, because Marathon is pretty complex. Other things I'm changing because, if I'm honest, I just didn't understand that part of Marathon well enough to write coherently about it.
Or I could just say U-Equestrian-SC and U-Earth-SC just do things differently to explain away any differences. Let's go with that.
edit: Pfhorpedia says Leela is the command A.I., not sure how I forgot that; I'm pretty sure I looked that up while writing the first version. Oh well, she's still in charge of security, that's just not her only job.
