You know, I think I just realized what Octy's penance is gonna be.
She deserves it. And hopefully will learn something from it at that.
As for Vinyl... oh, dearie, you have *got* to be deprogrammed! Your kinkiness is perfectly fine, but thinking that a domme who wants to make you happy is a bad one is a REALLY bad sign. *huggles*
7567762 My impression from what happened here is that Octy is playing the situation like the sociopath that she seems to be - she's in prison, she doesn't expect to be here all *that* long, but she's going to make damned sure that she plays the game the right way to make it as enjoyable as possible by targeting the most corrupt guard in the place to get what she wants.
I actually don't see it as cartoonish exaggeration, myself, but rather what happens any time you actually spend your time watching a personality disorder at work. I'm actually not so sure that she's a sociopath or psychopath as I think she's a flat out narcissist coupled with a "traditional" understanding of how rape works. She hasn't really done anything wrong, she's the wronged party in ALL of this, and it's all Finey and Vinyl's faults. She just has to be strong enough to make the most of it.
As for Vinyl... as I suggested previously, I think she's actually, seriously brainwashed. She thinks that S&M is all a matter of causing discomfort and following whatever whim the domme has, regardless of consequences. She thinks that the bottom doesn't have to *enjoy* it, they have to learn to *enjoy tolerating* it. She wasn't bolted down for Finey to rape, though some of the guards might've suggested the possibility the same way a guard might tell a rapist on their way into prison not to drop the soap, just to twist the knife a little. After all, she was bolted down in the courtroom too, pretty clearly just intended to keep them from running.
7637847 With respect, I think you're being too hard on Vinyl here. She's got a pretty reliable feeling for what she enjoys and what she doesn't enjoy; she just misunderstands (and has never thought deeply about) what motivates a dom to do their side of the things she enjoys. She certainly is plenty aware that the bottom is supposed to enjoy a scene -- see her immediate and total horror upon realizing that Finey didn't.

Hmm, crud, it seems that wasn't explained well enough. My intended reading was merely that all inmates have their horseshoes exchanged for bolt-me-downs when they're checked in, and keep wearing them until they're released -- such that they can be conveniently restrained whenever discipline or order-keeping so requires. It would take too much time (and ruin the hooves) to swap out the horseshoes each particular time the need arises. So she wears them until the judgment reveals she must be released, but they're not actually in use during the trial.
I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled upon this story, and I certainly didn't expect to get sucked into it for the reasons I did, but wow: This was/is an incredible read, from plot to pacing and especially to characters, and though it may be just about over (or at least with this major arc thoroughly and satisfyingly complete), I applaud your writing and eagerly await whatever you create next.
Rainbow Dash? Are you messing with grammar again?!

This story my friends is a fine example of a Diamond in the Rough.
