A very chilling and ominous start. This is shaping up to be a story that's either going to have a triumphant and happy ending
or a dark and depressing ending. 
Thank you for recovering this. There are several 'slender mane' stories in MLP fan fiction, but this one is the first and, in my opinion, the best.
