Silent_Witness

I'm a guy. I like My Little Pony. I don't like to talk about myself. Let's leave it at that.

T

A year and a half has passed since Twilight Sparkle departed from the human world. Sunset Shimmer has adapted to life with her new friends, eagerly counting down the days until thirty moons pass, and the portal to her world reopens. But on the eve of the seventeenth moon, her idyllic life is shattered when magic suddenly manifests in the human world, and a familiar face makes an unexpected reappearance. With only thirteen moons remaining until the portal reopens, Sunset Shimmer and the gang must embark on a journey across the globe, battling fierce monsters and meeting new allies, to save their world from the newly unleashed magical energies.

Now this looks like a lot of fun.

So what's the crossover with?

Judging by the picture, I think it's a final fantasy crossover.

I haven't even read past the second paragraph, and you start your story off with a Dragoon and a Black Mage (I would have had a Blue Mage there, but that's just me. I love Blue Mages).

Instant fave right there. Not even gonna read further before I put this on my watch list. :pinkiehappy::heart:

This has potential. I'm definitely interested in seeing this one through.

You have some scattered typos and a LOT of comma splices; you should go through and fix those. Other than that, no glaring technical errors.

I just want you to know, instead of reading your fic, I just spent the last hour binging on Distant Worlds and The Black Mages.

Not a fault with the fic or those links, but c'mon, FF music pretty much draws you in and never lets you go. LOVE IT! :pinkiecrazy::heart:

Will Rainbow Dash be beating anybody up in this story?

Will Sunset Shimmer be badass in this story?

Interesting. Other than Kingdom Hearts, I haven't played any other games by Square, but I know enough of some of its lore to enjoy what is happening so far.

However, that moment when Twilight "Scanned" everybody might have ticked me the wrong way. All the girls will be involved in this adventure, right? :trixieshiftright:

And a Chimera with an eagle head? That's a first.

so this be version of twilight from aother world

Interesting. Apparently, magic is leaking into this world. Though there's clearly always been some, otherwise who could've trained Twilight?

In any case, I look forward to seeing where you go with this.

It appears that these Twiilght and Spike aren't the ones that are supposed to exist in the EQG world.

Speaking of that: Is the story going to adress what happened to the Sunset of this world? If the one that appeared in the movie was born in Equestria, where is her counterpart?

.....HOLYSHIT we'll I like this a lot made me open my mouth for 10s

I must have more! This is AWESOME!

*Cringes*
I'm sorry, but Pinkie coming out of the blue and assigning the jobs to all of them in such a casual way is just too much, even for her. And okay, she had the costumes on her, but that doesn't necesarily gives them the abilities of those jobs. So far only Sunset has any actual way to defense herself against magic monsters. It would have made sense if Twilight had done something to reveal their magical potential and what not. I'm really sorry, but I cannot keep quiet in this.

Did I mention that I'm sorry? :fluttershysad:

very very interesting. I do find the "little boxes" funny. I do have to wonder will their travels take them to Sunsets world eventually? It could make for an interesting plot device ^_^

“The sword is a weapon of precision and elegance,” Twilight said as she approached. “You demonstrated neither, Flash Sentry.”

Yes, because nothing says "precision and elegance" quite like a five-foot long sheet of metal. :ajbemused:

I find the hyperspacial text boxes to be a bit much. There are acceptable breaks from reality like Pinkie providing starting supplies, and then there's using conventions from one medium that just don't belong in another. It's hard to accept Twilight saying that this isn't a game when you're incorporating user interface elements. Frankly, I'm amazed there weren't any active time meters or combat menus.

Aside from that, very interesting developments. I'm intrigued by the in-universe existence of the Final Fantasy franchise. Cultural memory? An enclave of mages preparing the world for magic's return?

Looking forward to more, especially Pinkie's every-weapon style.

Pinkie can't be a Mime! That's a disc four job! This is only disc one! :flutterrage:

I don't know that I'm thrilled with the personality of this Twilight. She's too...flat, too clinical, and sounds like she's about...40 or 50.

The blob shuddered, and a bright light began to shine from within its body. A translucent blue box appeared over its head, reading:

[Water]

Okay dude, seriously? Video game interface elements? No. Just...no. Don't do this. Throwing the costumes into the mix out of nowhere was bad enough, but this is just...this is just really bad writing.

Indescribable fluids

Nothing is indescribable. This is lazy writing.

I really don't like this version of Twilight. She's kind of a bitch.

“What, are you expecting me to punch that thing to death?”

Twilight crossed her arms. “I am not to blame for your lack of preparedness. And if you are truly as skilled as you say, it should make no difference.”

It's at this point that I am doubting whether or not I will continue reading this. I absolutely HATE this Twilight.

“You could’ve helped me out, you know.”

“Helping you would have defeated the purpose of this lesson.”

“Lesson?” Flash asked, incredulous. “What kind of lesson almost gets someone killed!?”

“The necessary kind.” Twilight gave Flash a hard glare. “The world is not what you believe it to be. Not anymore. It is a hostile, dangerous place, full of monsters that want nothing more than to see your blood. And if you cannot perform, then you. Will. Die. And your passing will not be mourned.”

Yeah I can't take another paragraph of this massive bitch. Or Pinkie's inexplicable game-breaking. Or the video game interface elements in this story where they have no place being.

Unfaved, downvoting. I'm sad. I had high hopes for this. You disappointed me.

Ugh, Twilight. Don't be such a terrible person.

The blob shuddered, and a bright light began to shine from within its body. A translucent blue box appeared over its head, reading:

[Water]

You lost me. G'bye.

Yeah, that was much better.

Much better. Twilight isn't blithely putting people at risk, the fourth wall has a fresh coat of spackle, and Pinkie's still Pinkie. Excellent work. I look forward to more.

I just read the edited chapters, and i think the flow of the story feels more natural now. Hope to see an update soon!

Let's see here.. I just freshened myself up on Final Fantasy lore via playing IV and V so if I may note the classes and monsters I recognize. Twilight Sparkle donned the attire of the Black Mage but also with the mix of a Summon (well minus the Eidolons)? and most likely an early model considering the hat "blocked" her face from the view. Spike is the Dragoon here..Dragon, Dragoon.. yup, a rather obvious fit if I may be so plain. Considering how Sunset used "black" (fire) and "white" (cure) magic. I'd say she'd either be a Sage or a Red Mage, as both do have access to both types Only difference is, if you're comparing to III and V, the Red Mages are also workable front line fighters while the Sages are relegated to the back row...
As for that monster, it's description is consistent with a Chimera from the Final Fantasy series, although it's appearance changes depending on the game..

Would the be the one we are looking at here? It's from X/X-2. This is the version that stands on its hind legs while having the 4 heads. If I may be a bit critical, technically this version resists the Fire element; and has its own access to magic and abilities corresponding to the 4 elements in X; and each head, well almost, "activates" (for lack of the better term), when it's using that element.. Megiddo Flame is Fire that the Wolf's head represents; the Aqua Breath is water, which the Eagle's head represents, lastly the magic Thundara and Blizzara are magics utilized by the snakehead "tail". If this is the Chimera that attacked then I'm a little bit curious as to why it didn't show all of it's abilities, besides its strength.

If I may be so critical again, I think this theme might fit better for that last scene

Well, at least someone's using the links.

Well overall, firstly on the jobs; I think there is a slight mismatch with Rarity; Nothing against monks, but I figure she'd be a Bard or Geomancer; Pinkie Pie would've made a better Blue Mage than Mime.. other than that, the jobs match well. Nothing against the VII battle themes but I figure that since this story has sort of a "classic" feel to it and by that I mean the jobs and such; an earlier game's theme like IV or III would do better. Course that's my opinion. I noticed that the element magic here works like it did in X with the opposing elements; interesting.

This just gets better and better!:ajsmug::pinkiehappy::rainbowdetermined2::raritystarry::scootangel::twilightsmile::yay::heart:

Awesome update cannot wait to read more!

Scootaloo can summon a phoenix as an attack move? That's reasonably awesome.

And Sweetie Belle seems to be a Spark. Neat.

Woah, and the phoenix is even named Philomena? It would be interesting if it's actually the Philomena from Equestria that is being summoned.

I believe Rarity just did a shurioken or at least some form of it and that's awesome.

As Applejack pocketed her phone, Fluttershy asked, “Applejack? …How many bullets does your revolver hold?”
“Six. Why?”
“…You fired a lot more than just six shots just now.

Neat.

Ooooo, Trixie, with lots of sass and an interesting power set of her own.

Loved the updated and cannot wait for the next!

Dang, some awesome fight scenes for Dash and Sunset. Especially whatever move Dash just used to take out the hydra.

Flash is a paladin, or maybe a cleric? Neat.

I just killed a dragon.
Then, he planted his sword in the ground, and stood triumphantly. “I told you no one hurts my friends.”

Yeah, I'm thinking paladin.

Ooooo, the Wonderbolts? With Spitfire on machine gun, Soarin on katar, and Bulk Biceps on anchor? Awesome.

Dang, a one hit kill on the anacondaur? Nice move, Soarin.

Loved the update and eagerly await more. I am seriously not too fond of the human worlds Twilight, and hope and pray to Luna she pulls her head out of her ass, stops acting so damn cold hearted

But then, a dark shadow appeared in the dust, coming away from the mountain. The group raised their weapons, but Spitfire ordered, “Stand down. It’s not a monster.”
And indeed it wasn’t. For as the shadow grew closer, they could see that it was a human- a young woman with dark purple hair, wearing a dark blue cloak. Her hair was pulled forward, obscuring her face. But in spite of that, Pinkie recognized her right away.

I'm not so sure Spitfire is right about it not being a monster.

Also, did I miss the revelation that Spitfire was actually a lesbian? I thought it was still up in the air and then Soarin was all extra mopey about it at the end of the chapter.
