The Everfree forest holds more than its fair share of secrets that much is for sure, and when the young Diamond Tiara narrowly survives a near death experience she becomes one of them. Three years have passed since she became a guardian of the forest and now a strange darkness has begun to stir. Her master fears it and sends her away both to get help, and to protect her from whatever is lurking in the forests depths. But when her master leaves the forest and claims his birthright, all of Equestria will be turned on its head.
I just want to let you know that while this story may be going on hiatus, it is by no means cancelled. I will NEVER cancel a story. It might be a couple of months before I update, but it won't be cancelled. Unless I die... which would suck... a lot. Anywho, I just can't seem to give this story my all lately and until I'm able to I don't feel comfortable with writing. Just give me a little while. I'll pick it back up while I'm writing my other stories.

Welp, she now has to live in the Everfree forest.
Good intro, a few parts felt a bit off, but those are more opinion than what I can say is truly a fault. But it's not like fiction has to follow canon and people can picture the two's friendship as they please.
The story itself was good. I like the concept. I like the use and the portrayal of the Everfree Forest as I feel was what the show's original intent for it was; to be a true threat to all of Equestria and then some. Nature's Law vs Celestia's Order.
This is pretty good work. The back story for Diamond and how and why she attends School in Ponyville was really nice, and overall I won't spoil it for others but I loved the suspense in this one.
I'll look forward to seeing more of this otherwise amazing story. /fav

Still, this deserves a cover. I think something of a glade or silhouette of the core element of this story and it's protector or what have you would be a good place to start for a cover, but that's my opinion.
Should any come your way, and they do a favorable enough job, be sure to source the artist and I'll give them a nice tip based on how well it portrays the story/how well it comes out.
A few grammar and spelling errors, but otherwise this is a very solid story. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
This story needs more love.
I'm surprised there was no attempt by AJ or the family to fetch Filthy. But given the events that followed, that was hardly a bad thing. Until you learn she slept throughout the day and had a nice long shower. Then it becomes more questionable. Maybe they intended to do say the following day, once the shock of seeing Diamond Tiara was alive after all that time.
Few parts felt, personally, a bit off or awkward. Maybe the amount of time that went by and the three long minutes to compose one's self. But that's really just because I read too much into the moment. Would of been nicer if worded different with "after a time, I managed to compose myself." or some of the many various ways.
But the only thing I worried about was the time skip and how Diamond wouldn't sound like Diamond. But you did a fine job in showing that even with time and training she still had things her training couldn't quite purge. Aside from the things I've mentioned, it was a really great story. I fell in love with the world building in this story. The Everfree, so horribly horribly underutilized by the show, gets some much love here.
The Guardians. What can I say? You covered your bases. It's a bit tragic and the setup for future chapters are set well with this one. I really enjoyed the mythos you created for their kind. And the history in general for The Everfree.
Lastly, or at least as much as am willing to go into due to spoilers, is whoever reads this chapter better brace themselves for some serious feels. You really got me at the final scene there.
