Cupcakes!

A little poem by me, Pinkie Pie!

For my sister, Maud Pie!

Hi Maud! You inspired me to write a poem! It was really super-duper fun!
I hope you enjoy this poem as much as I did writing it, sis!

Okay, poem-time now!

Hi there! I'm Pinkie Pie!
And I love cupcakes!
I work and live at Sugarcube Corner!
With Mr Cake, and Mrs Cake, and the babies Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake,
And it's where I make,
And it's where I bake,
Lots and lots and lots and lots of cupcakes!

Making cupcakes is one of my favorite super-duper fun things to do!
Would you like to make some cupcakes, too?
I'm more than happy to show you!
It will be super-duper-mega-ultra fun!
And you could share your cupcakes with everyone!
Because everypony loves a cupcake, yes sirree, they do!

No pony has lived until a cupcake, they've tried,
Until their tummies have gotten a cupcake inside!
Especially the ones me and Mr and Mrs.Cake bake!
Here's one I made earlier! It's yours to take!

I made it just for you!
Would you like another too?
Of course you do!
Everypony wants one or two!
Sometimes, even three or four!
Everypony can't help but want more!
Because cupcakes, we all adore!
I've never had a pony turn down a cupcake before!
Cupcakes, nopony could ignore!
Because cupcakes, everypony adores!

Eating cupcakes is really fun!
You should try tasting one!
But it's even funner to make and bake,
Lots and lots of cupcakes!
Because I get to lick the spoon afterwards!
And so will you!
If you make and bake cupcakes too!

It's really fun making and baking cupcakes,
And it's really super-duper easy to do!
You just need a big bowl for mixing stuff!
And plenty of flour and eggs and milk and chocolate chips and icing and little pretty cool decorative sprinkles to put on top,
You have to check that there is enough!
Otherwise making really good cupcakes will be really, really tough!

So, we start off with a cup of flour,
And we add it to the mix!
Make sure you add something sweet, not sour,
Because nopony likes cupcakes that taste sour!
Oh! Icky-icky!
Everypony likes cupcakes that are sweet and tasty!
Especially ones that given hard work and effort and time,
Instead of being made really hasty!
Those cupcakes don't always turn out tasty.
So remember, fillies and colts - cupcakes are tasty when not made hasty!

So, anyways - add a spoonful of vanilla,
So your cupcakes get their fill of,
Vanilla goodness!

Now add some eggs and milk and butter,
But make sure you weighed all of it properly first!
Or else your cupcakes could come out the worst!
And if they come out the worst, nopony might buy them,
And then they'll be sad because they didn't get any cupcakes,
And then you'll be sad because you'll get depressed because you didn't make good enough cupcakes,
And then I'll be sad and my hair will deflate because you're sad that you didn't make good cupcakes for everypony to enjoy...
So, we'll make sure that doesn't happen!
We'll make these cupcakes the best cupcakes ever, Captain!
They'll be so good everypony will enjoy!
Every stallion and mare, every girl and boy!

Then whisk the mix away, as your old pony pal Pinkie (that's me! Hi!) says!
And then we'll empty some of the mixture into trays!
Pop them into the oven and turn it on!
But don't turn it up too high,
Otherwise our cupcakes will fry!
And nopony will want to eat a fried cupcake! Nope, not one!

So while we wait for the cupcakes to bake,
You want to give the spoon a lick?
Don't eat too much of it, or you might get sick,
And if you get sick you won't get to try your cupcakes,
And that would be really sad,
After all the fun you and me had,
Making and baking those cupcakes!
Then we can decide how to decorate,
Our cupcakes, so we can commemorate,
This really fun day we had, making and baking,
Delicious and yummy and scrumptious cupcakes!
How many cupcakes home will you be taking?

DING! Yay! The cupcakes are ready!
Don't forget to put on your oven mitts!
The trays will be really hot, and you could burn yourself,
And if you burn yourself, you won't be able,
To hold your cupcake in your hoof, nice and stable,
And that would be really bad,
After all the fun, making and baking cupcakes, that we had,
It would make me really, really, really sad,
So put on your oven mitts so you don't get hurt,
And we can enjoy our cupcakes and be glad!

Oh wow-wee! Your cupcakes look really tasty!
That is because you weren't rushing or being hasty!
So how do you want to decorate your super-duper-mega-ultra-awesome pastry?
Icing? Sprinkles? Chocolate chips? Icing and sprinkles and chocolate chips?
Oh, boy! I can't wait to see what you put on yours!
I'm already licking my lips!

So, there you go! You and me made some cupcakes together!
If you want to make some cupcakes again, just come back whenever!
We can be Cupcake Making And Baking Best Friends Forever!
I'd love to make and bake a cupcake with you whatever the weather!

Author's Note:

When writing this poem, I was trying to imagine exactly how Pinkie Pie would go about writing it. I figured that since this IS Pinkie Pie we're talking about here, her poem would probably reflect some of her character in the writing, so it would have to appear hyper-active and childish, just like Pinkie Pie herself. I also thought that if the writing was to reflect her character, then since Pinkie Pie has a habit of going on and on about a subject, she'd probably make her lines longer than they need to be, rambling on as she does. She also gets easily distracted and carried away as seen in the show, so I thought the writing would reflect that as well.

I doubt I've managed to paint an image of Pinkie Pie doing poetry with this, but the important thing is that I gave it a try. I have no regrets. So, I hope you, dear reader, will find this poem enjoyable and not a total waste of your time, and I wish you a pleasant day or evening, wherever in the world you may be.
