Alrighty, let's see if I can help resolve this. Take "Discord Babysitting". Discord is an all around baddie in canon, but the author modifies his character just enough to make him the best babysitter of all time. That's what I'm doing here. In canon, they can be as cold and ruthless as they like, but here, I'll modify them just enough to make them usable. Besides, I specifically stated that most of the Daleks chose death over their surrender.
