Trivial Knowledge was a unicorn with a gift of near-perfect recall of minor information. He was also one of the first five ponies sent by Princess Celestia to leave the comfort of Equestria, seeking new horizons, new worlds to explore, new friends to meet, aboard a space-travelling construction known as the Friendship.
These are a sample of her voyages.
Well!
this looks entertaining. I must say, though, that the names seem odd, even for ponies. Magic Surge is just... so plain. Something like Arcane Wellspring would be somewhat better, but it still seems too direct a name
JMHO, though

Yes, I know. I'm absolutely terrible at names. I know how terrible the names I come up with are, I just can't ever seem to think of any better ones...
so, this isn't earth, obviously, because having the Moon means Earth will not lock to the sun before the sun fries it. or so I have read
still, a curious development

It's not Earth. That would be a level of fictional recursion that I don't think I'd like to attempt just at the moment.
Interesting stuff! I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more attention, I think it's quite good. Reminds me pretty strongly of Star Trek TOS episodes, especially some of the early ones.

Thanks!
I'm definitely going for a sort of 'old sci-fi' vibe in this story. I'm glad to hear it seems to be working.
So, when will they meet the humans?

Probably never. This is supposed to be Equestrian sci-fi, after all; and who would believe that a world where *nopony* controls the Sun could hold intelligent life?
