This story is a sequel to Equestrian Concepts

(Equestrian Concepts is featured on Equestria Daily. This story makes no sense without reading it first.)

All Ditzy had wanted was rest and a way out of the mad quest that had shoved itself into her life.

Halted by ancient fire and older nightmares, she had hoped that the others would give up—or at the very least leave her in peace to raise her daughter. Perseverance seems a hollow word as Ditzy is again manipulated by the greater forces of the world, yet in the north Tick begins to understand his plague and the strange gift of his eyes.

Additional character tags: Royal Guard, Batpony

Shades of Jack London's To Build a Fire here...

I guess Tick ended up in the frozen Arctic wastes? I hope Derpy and Dinky are safe.

Jack London's To Build a Fire

Wow. I haven't read that since grade school. That's not a comparison I would have ever thought of. Thanks for pointing that out!

I just realized I have forgotten some key plot points in the interim between discovering Concepts on EQD and starting Grey Sky.

BRB after I re-read Equestrian Concepts to reacquaint myself with the salient details...

I’ll go into the office later… do some work, catch up ‘nother day…

I guess it is a measure of how much Derpy trusts Dash to stay dedicated to her mail job.

The book! And Tick—

Does Tick know what the book actually is?
Does anypony?

All they really know is:
1. The book was found in the reality bending library.
2. The book has metal leaves (like the old postal records in the Canterlot office)

Not much to go on here. It could be anything at this point.

Tick is going to look like a right proper numpty once he translates the book and discovers it is somepony's recipe for lemon grass hayfires from 7 centuries ago...

“It’s not a negotiation. Are you going to come with us, or will your attitude need to be adjusted further?”

Does Eris need to smack a filly colt?
