TambourineBlossom

T

Almost ten years ago, Prism Bolt's wife left him. Today is his ninth Mother's Day alone, and Rainbow Dash asks him the same question she asks every year. "What happened to mom?" This year, he finally answers her.

AN: Prism Bolt is Rainbow Dash's father, in case it wasn't clear.

You do know that Prism Bolt is also the name kilala97's OC son of Rainbow Dash. Right?

I was unaware of this, I had done some googling to see what the consensus was on Rainbow Dadsh's name, Prism Bolt looked like the closest we have to an official name.

Mah feels!

3817332 that's fine I'm not trying to get on you for it, it may confuse some readers though.

Thank you!

Yeah I dunno, it's something I've always liked the idea of and toyed with exactly how to fit it into a story.

I'm glad you liked it! :yay:

love it! going to favs, right now.:pinkiesad2:

just randomly found this and i'm happy that i did. really liked it. kind of odd, in my own opinion, on how the situation of fluttershy seems to make since.

You took two different story ideas and stuck them together with some very flimsy theme about maternity. And that theme only extends so far. What does Rainbow Dash's mother have to do with Fluttershy being born a dude? What does Rainbow Dad's alcoholism have to do with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy apparently being exes who once tried to conceive?

Maybe as a series of separate vignettes, set in the same continuity, this would work better. But in this form, it's pretty disjointed.

I loved it! I've never viewed Fluttershy in such an interesting aspect! It makes me want to know more about her transformation and how she found herself!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you all on this. Real life happened.

Thanks! I have good news for you: I am, in fact, working on a more in-depth interquel that talks about Fluttershy becoming Fluttershy.

The overarching theme is 'what mother's day means to someone who doesn't really have a mother', and to a lesser extent life not turning out how we expect it. It's not neat, it's not pretty, but sometimes things work out. That, plus there's a degree of parallelism between the first and second parts of the story. Sorry that I didn't make it clear enough for you (not being sarcastic).

3925326 D'awww this is a really cute and sad story, 420/11, great job.

Ya i know right! Realized that as soon as I saw the story!
