6096517 My apologies if this was not as sexy a chapter as you were hoping for. My only defense is that I love lots of plot with my porn. This was the 'plot' part.
Oh, dear. They're either going to kill each other or Apple Bloom is going to end up with her own herd when s/he finds out how good at being a colt all that friend humping s/he's become.
Let's just hope poor Bloom is a -sterile- pony as a colt before any accidents happen.
While I understand why she reacted the way she did, you kinda wrote Applejack as a serious bitch. She's treating Applebloom less like the baby sister to be protected and more like a slave.
Likewise, Cheerilee is once again a complete idiot who blames the victim of goading instead of the ones actually starting the fight.
6096674 I got some mixed feelings from pre-readers on the Applejack thing. Some felt she was being too mean and it wasn't at all clear that she was more angry at Discord than Applebloom; others felt it was dead-on and if anything the argument should have been MORE contentious, especially for a farming family. In the end she's actually been toned down a bit from the original draft, so it's strange to hear people think she's still being too bitchy / a slavedriver. 'Extra chores' seems like it would be a pretty common punishment for a farming family setting like this, unless you feel that I should have gone with more physical discipline, and....well, spanking-as-child-discipline can be a bit of a can-o-worms, so I wasn't really eager to open it when there's plenty of other issues to tackle already.
As for Cheerilee, well, she didn't see the beginning of the fight, all she saw was three ponies beating the crap out of each other. It's a pretty reasonable reaction.
6096674 In their defense, both Applejack and Cheerliee are also going through their own estrus cycle. They've got good reason to be annoyed by everything that's going on.
6096620 I was kinda hopeful when I saw how long the chapter was, but I had a hunch you'd stick to your alternating. Odd chapters have had the cloppier stuff while evens have stuck to the story side.
6097119 Good catch. That hasn't been ENTIRELY intentional, but it's definitely worked out that way and I think it works well. I didn't wanna leave it totally dry though, hence the teasing little wet dream tidbit. XD
6097034 If by literary you mean fictional then yes that one. These two fellows 60968056096896 provide a couple more hints. Good job, y'all.
As I said, I understand their reasons. Just that they've been dealing with this most of their lives, they should be lucid enough to be considered intelligent. They have their supplements, after all. AJ I feel was stereotypically stilted, but Cheerilee is sadly smack on the nose for her canon and fanon appearances. The unfairness bothers me a bit, so it's more of a personal pet peeve. Injustice complex and all.
Some of your pre-readers are abusing preconceived and stereotypical notions of what a farming family is, then - I come from farming and military stock myself, so I've got a bit more insight into this than the majority of your pre-readers, I'm assuming. The punishment of extra chores wasn't so much the issue as Applejack's general treatment. It's not the sort of thing like a typo where I can point at a word and go "see this is wrong", it's the tone, the cutting-of, the complete dismissal of the fact Applebloom has feelings and thoughts of her own, having no want to hear what they may be. That's the way you treat sapient property, not someone you love. Most of the time that's reserved for when there's an actual present threat afoot and there's no time for talk. But none the farming families I've known, be it my own kin or others, have been fussed to act like this.
Essentially that's the media image, overall. Certainly, it happens - or it wouldn't be a stereotype, but it's just massively overblown for television and movies. Which I believe is where your pre-readers are getting it from. To put it in pill form, I was expecting Granny to creak her way over to Applejack, grab her by the ear, and give her a dressing down for going overboard and how she'd been raised to respect her family. It's not a chapter dealbreaker, but it feels very out of place, especially since it was a large focus for the chapter.
6097171 One of my pre-readers is also from a farming family and said he has basically had this exact argument numerous times, resulting in technically having more chores than humanly possible and being grounded until the heat death of the universe, and accepted it as perfectly fine.
On the other hand another pre-reader said basically the exact same stuff you did about the original draft, before I attempted to tone it down somewhat.
So you can imagine where I was a bit torn on how to handle it.
Perhaps it's my fault for not conveying well enough, but the idea I was trying to get across was that Applejack is largely mad at Discord, not Applebloom. But because she's helpless to do anything about it to HIM, and because Applebloom's misbehavior breaking the rules/her promise about not associating with Discord is something AJ CAN do something about, Applebloom ends up holding the short end of the stick and getting harsher treatment than she might have otherwise.
This WILL come back around later and Applejack's over-reaction won't go un-adressed, but for the time being, and for this chapter, things were dragging on long enough already, and to me, interruption/interference by Granny or Mac would have felt like a token appearance and too simple a solution when I really wanted Applebloom to feel piled-on to lead to her breaking point at the end of the chapter.
Soooo yeah. That's why that all happened. Sorry if it still felt off to you.
6097169 A little bit of Google-fu has provided me with the answer as to who it actually was and why I didn't get it, as I've never read the source material.
I hope Miss Cherilee is there to practically (if not literally) sit on those three; a closed room and raging pubescent hormones equals the sort of Family Planning course Miss Cherilee is probably NOT thinking about giving.
Maybe she’d even be his first. Wouldn’t that be special… being the very first filly to peek between those folding scales and feast her eyes upon… whatever it was exactly dragons had down there.
Well... I wouldn't have brought it up but...
Given that she's taking her other friends first's, and look like she's headed to take the first of many young fillies in Ponyville, does it strike anyone else as selfish if she's like "And I hope I can get the first from even more people!"
Apple Bloom being special means that all the other colts get to not be special, after all.
I can only imagine Applejack's epic facehoof when she finds out Bloom not only ended up a colt but has been banging all of her classmates in spite of being grounded.
Also: This is looking like Apple Bloom might choose to be dual-gendered in the end. Whether that means hermaphroditism or Pinkie knowing where to find the Nannīchuan/Nyannīchuan (Depending on whether Discord ever changes her back or not) is up for grabs though :p
Could someone provide a hint? I've tried typing things like "host mortal truth" and such into google, but I'm not getting anything that catches my eye. He said it's not literary, so is it a character from a movie or something?
"Dead-on" or not, Applejack is still clearly being irrational, or at least is making no effort to empathize with Apple Bloom and is instead all to happy to climb on that moral high horse, pun intended. It is in no way fair to punish Apple Bloom just because she's embarrassed at being reminded of her own complete lack of self-control and poor decision-making when she was having her first heat.
Oh, but she doesn't care if the affected party thinks the punishment is fair? Well, then she's a tyrannical, cockmongling dustbin, and I hope that she slips on a cow pie and then "drops her peach" in a pile of wet bird shit.
They watched Spike run out the door, and Applejack heaves a sigh.
"Don't you think that might have been a bit harsh, Applejack?"
The farmer leveled a glare at Twilight, and took a deep breath, an angry retort seconds from escaping. And then it was gone, and Applejack seemed to simply deflate, and dropped onto the couch next to Twilight.
"Yeah, maybe a bit. Sorry, I'm jes', madder than a hornet on fire right now. But I guess it ain't fair to take it all out on Bloom like that. It's jes', I'll abide a lot from him, but I won't abide him messing with my family, alright? I'll not stand for it!"
"But is it really fair to Applebloom? To punish her like this? You put an awful lot on her, all things considered."
"Yeah, I suppose I did. Though, muddled or not, she went and broke a promise, and that's gotta come with consequences. But maybe I'll shave a week off or so, if'n she behaves herself. And I ain't gunna drown her in work or nuthin', though she might think I am at first. I promise though, it's actually better than keeping her cooped up with nothing to do. Believe me, ain't nothing worse than being stuck inside on a farm with nothing to do. Not for an Apple, anyway. Besides, I wanna let her stew in it for a bit first. Let her think about what she did. She's probably pretty mad now, but once she calms down a bit, she'll likely remember all the other times I grounded her for ages, and how long that lasted. And when that no-good Discord get's back, I'll have a few things for him too."
Twilight nodded a bit. "Yes, this is a bit far, though I think he maybe didn't quite mean it to be. It's hard to tell, even now.But let's let Fluttershy talk to him first. She seems to be the only one who really gets to him...... So, what are you up to now?"
"Well, there are a bunch of apples needing washed. That'll probably take near to nighttime to get done. Got all my other work done quick so I would have time."
"You mean the apples Spike and Applebloom are cleaning right now?"
"....Aw shoot. Uh...huh, I uh, guess I got some free time."
6097214 6097321 I know I'm nearly a day late for the convo, but as someone who's had friends (and helped friends) who were farmers, and especially after seeing one or two punishment blow-outs of epic proportions, I'd think AJ's almost being too lenient. I had a friend who forgot to feed the llamas, didn't get the cows out to pasture (or something) on time, and almost got his still-haven't-met-the-fairly-traditional-farmer-parents girlfriend pregnant, and he was practically locked in the cellar and fed nothing but bread crumbs and whatever mice he could catch*, only let out to do all of his and all of his younger sisters' chores, which boiled down to nearly four times as much work as normal.
*Of course, this is a bit of an exaggeration. He was probably fed normal meals and all that, and maybe got to sleep in his own bed, but neither me nor his girlfriend saw him for more than a few minutes at a time for nearly two months. He'd go to school, and go directly home. You'd swear he was teleporting with how not anywhere he was...
But yeah, AJ's reaction was spot on for what farmers I've met (and after the episode Pinkie Apple Pie and the one with the fire swamps, it's also extremely likely that she'd almost overreact out of fear for her sister's safety or something, on top of being plain angry at her) were like, so we best pray she never hears about the harem Bloom's starting, or else rooming with Tirek in Tartarus would be cake.
I see Discord is friends with a certain excellent host. Well, they do have the same sort of mischievous, avuncular charm. Especially when it comes to little girls who aren't nearly as clever as they think they are. In any case, Discord does have a point. Apple Bloom isn't quite as uncomfortable with her current body as she leads even herself to believe. It may not be her form of preference, but it has certain undeniable benefits. And depending on how that detention goes, she may be demonstrating them in short order.
That was a great chapter I think DT was going to ask AB to buck her and Silver Spoon but then had second thoughts I think that will change during detention Is it bad that I want Applebloom to become Applebloom 1/2, except cold water changes her to a male and hot water changes her into female I WANT MOAR SOON! If that is alright with you
Poor Apple Bloom, got into trouble at home, got into a brawl against Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara, got detention at school..... but look at the good side of things, you won't take long to rut two cute fillies afterwards
Great chapter. Love the future pairing with, Applebloom and Spike, as well as the 'plot' in the story. And I see what your going to do in the next chapter, and with all the trouble, Diamond, ALWAYS cause, I would leave her soooo hot and bothered, while I fuck the mess out of her friend right in front of her!
"My Anaconda, Don't. Want. Nun. Of That Bitches' Bun!"
6096674 That's the Zero-Tolerance Policy at work for you! Aren't you glad to see your tax dollars at work?
6096785 I agree that Applejack's reaction seems almost exactly like a parent from my family would act. Thing is, just because it's accurate doesn't mean that it's fair: her sister is tricked by a literal incarnation of trickery- one Applejack has experienced firsthand how good he is at manipulation, having fallen victim to it herself- and she responds by punishing AppleBloom for losing a fight she had no chance of winning. What's telling to me is that, for someone trying to fill the role of parent for AppleBloom, Applejack doesn't seem to realize the role of parent involves more than disciplining the kid when they screw up- it's a little glaring to me that nowhere does AJ ask or even seem to consider "why didn't you come to me for help?" Parents take care of their kids: even when punishing me, my parents would usually ask something along the lines of "why didn't you tell us before it got this bad?" Considering how the Crusaders have been getting bullied for a long time and AJ isn't chewing Cheerilee's ear off about it, it's safe to assume that Bloom developed a habit of trying her hardest to keep AJ from finding out when she's in trouble- likely from prior experience. Your kid preferring to suffer in silence rather than bring the issue to you should set off major alarm bells for any parent.
As for Cheerilee- no, it was not "three ponies beating the crap out of each other." It was "three of HER STUDENTS who do not have a history of violence beating the crap out of each other." Her reaction would be reasonable for students why get in fistfights every day. A fistfight out of the blue? That's deviant behavior, which should be a clue that something's wrong and thus needs fixing. Throwing them in detention is the equivalent of pushing a massive mess into one corner of the room: it no longer requires immediate attention, but the problem is still there. Also, I find it ironic how teachers are so prone to saying "we don't solve problems with violence!" Maybe they should flip through the history textbooks: might give them an inkling of why their student's don't believe them.
Oui...waiting all this time and THIS is what comes up? Talk about a major disappointment.
Both Diamond Tiara and Applejack better pay for what they've done...and I think we all know how DT's gonna get it.

Not-so-patiently waiting for the next chapter.

You called Discord Scoundrel?! Looks like somepony is being reading some Scion of Chaos.

Discord written right. Thank Bajeebus~
Whoever this mysterious individual is they must be a most excellent host,
applebloom is gonna give it to DT and SS in the class room lol, right on cheerilees' desk
Discord wishes he was as excellent a host as his "acquaintance"...
::::)
6096674
In their defense, both Applejack and Cheerliee are also going through their own estrus cycle. They've got good reason to be annoyed by everything that's going on.
6096620
I'll admit to liking the 'plot with porn' approach. I mean it's a win/win. You get an interesting plot and you still get porn.
The smooze?
Was Discord's "acquaintance" a historical figure, or a literary one?
Because it sounds like something Lestat would have said.

Didn't get it a first but I got it after those hints, darn though,
I would have guessed that it was death from diskworld at first.
I feel that the doc would have a headache with discord though, would you agree?
Or does that make it too obvious?
Edit: Now I see your name and I feel even dumber for not getting it sooner.
Well... I wouldn't have brought it up but...

Interesting to see Apple Bloom waffling about her newfound colthood.
Of course, being really sexually active right out the gate and having really good experiences would probably be fairly encouraging to keep it.

Parents take care of their kids: even when punishing me, my parents would usually ask something along the lines of "why didn't you tell us before it got this bad?" Considering how the Crusaders have been getting bullied for a long time and AJ isn't chewing Cheerilee's ear off about it, it's safe to assume that Bloom developed a habit of trying her hardest to keep AJ from finding out when she's in trouble- likely from prior experience.
