Mageismoiras. Fate Magic. Twilight Sparkle has read the book given to her and has learned of "old magic". With that knowledge, she is now ready to bring Fluttershy back to life. But as events begin to happen in Ponyville, she is left to wonder if it is truly her friend that she raised.
Applejack and Rarity find comfort in Big Macintosh as they come to terms with the loss of their friend. Applejack, as a sibling, and Rarity, as his special somepony. As the events that Twilight Sparkle has brought upon the town occur, Rarity learns that somepony is not happy with her newfound love.
Discord, upon learning what Twilight Sparkle truly intended to do with the knowledge he gave her, finally decides that he must put a stop to the three princesses' actions at any cost.
This story coincides with the events in "The Return To Flatts".

Not only the flower girls, but losing the object of his affection, not just through the realization of loss of love, but that she, too, will die before him, regardless of where my writing leads them. Well, we know who payed Rainbow Dash a visit, clearly jealous of always being slower.
I love how Twilight and Discord believe that necromancy can be used to circumvent the laws of life and death. There is no such thing as bringing someone back from the dead without consequence. Necromancy is only meant to create mindless servants or speak with spirits who have passed. If you try to bring back a soul that has already passed, all you end up stuffing inside the shell is something far less pleasant. As for Fluttershy's rotting wings, either Rainbow went down swinging, or Fluttershy's body and whatever is inside her are rejecting what isn't a part of their Vessel.

I like creepy horror stories, so I was enjoying this already.
And then you had to go and give me Discord nearly having a breakdown over how badly Twilight has screwed over his best friend through ignorance and the fact that *he* gave her the book.
That moment when he breaks off and starts whispering "butterflies" is just heartbreaking. And his reaction is perfect. Utterly calm, cold rage, and enough guilt that he can't just take it out on Twilight, plus he knows Fluttershy wouldn't have wanted that and he knows Twilight was *trying* to help. So he's going to put Twilight through a little bit of hell, but mostly... he's just going to tell her what she's done. And that's all the revenge he really needs.
And he's going to try really really hard to not have a breakdown in front of her. But when your first, best and kindest friend, who taught you the very concept of friendship, gets brought back as a murderous zombie by one of *her* closest friends because you, like an idiot, gave her the *book* that let her do it... maybe you actually need to be nigh-omnipotent to avoid that.
