You know, I've thinking about a possible mythology for Equestria before hearth's Warming Eve, the rule of Celestia and Luna, and winter brought by the wendigos. In ancient times, each pony race lived separately in their own distinctive civilization. I've drawn inspiration from some classical pieces of literature, in this instance Tolkien. I've compare the Unicrons to that of the Elves of Mirkwood, the Pegasi to that of the Men of Gondor, and the Earth Ponies to that of the Dwarves of Erebor.
I particularly thought about the culture of the Earth Ponies. They don't really that interesting in the show, and what I mean by that is they don't have special abilities like the unicorns or pegasi. They do manual labor and farm. So I thought that originally they had an "Erebor" like home land deep beneath the mountains, where they were great miners and craftsmen, creating a vast labyrinth of underground causeways beneath the land. But then something happened that forced them to abandon their ancient hall and eventually have them end up where they are today.
