I found a typo. "It discharged at Blue's vacant seat, singing it to a pile of ash." It should be "singeing." I know, singeing looks stupid and unintuative, but hey, hat's english for you.
EDIT: also, to singe means to burn lightly or superficially. A better description for what you meant might be disintegrate.

So it is... stupid English. And I knew what I meant when I said singeing, as it implies it was lightly scorched a lot of times, rendering it to a pile of ash bit by bit. More brutal that way, you see.
