Oh boy another adventure
well looks like the mane six are going to get swept of their hooves by a dashing Spike the pirate and get orggeyed by the Changeling mistress of the sea
I'll be honest and say that I only read two parts:
1) from the beginning to where they just accept that Spike is gone (or at least not writing to them abruptly) and blatantly accepted it
and 2) from the apperence of the Pirate Captain to the end
and that's mostly because I rarely read any story that isn't a Spike fic, and having said that, I would like to read more
Oh hell yes this like so good.
Unlike your other big adventure story, this one has the Mane 6 and Spike on the high seas.
Spike as a pirate captain is so bad-ass and him been on "speaking" or other kind of "terms" with Chrysalis is bucking hot.
And I hope it's the other.
I'm wondering just where is Spike?

I really like where this story is going. It looks like this is going to be one of those stories were a good guy aka Spike has to be a somewhat bad guy to fight the greater evil, and I don't mean Chrysalis. Yeah Sombra, I see your tag there. I'm keeping my eye's on you!

I'm 80% sure that the pirate captain is indeed Spike....
Here are my reasonings:
1/ First, the Mane 6 are do somewhat miss Spike. He was originally Twilight's assistant before he.....disappeared, for lack of a better term. Apparently they all remember him, and there are very subtle hints of Sparity and Flutterspike in their flashback.
2/ The pirate captain is described perfectly as something Spike would do, especially with this quote:
Considering that the vast majority of sapient life are ponies, it makes great sense to me that, as a dragon, Spike in his natural form would have either cause panic or a massive ponyhunt. Plus, he has draconic eyes, anypony would known exactly who he is, so lets go with a "Phantom of the Opera" jive.
3/ His demeanor, once again described in this passage:
Who else would have a "code" of conduct, that even though he's a pirate, he has standards.....perhaps an air of nobility?

2775053 You make some excellent points. And the second and third chapter is making it more and more likely that Spike is the captain. Though I wonder what is going on behind the scenes. Spike wouldn't join a cause unless he believes it is just. And from the way he talks Chrysalis must be in on it and have similar goals but they have different views on how the goal should be reached. Though I wonder how Spike is going to end up with.
Well I just got mind fucked, unless spike is pretending to be a prisoner and grund was posing as the captain.

You have me confused? I really, really, really, thought Spike was the captain. Oh well, it's getting very interesting now. There was a section here of, personal, particular interest to me. It was when Rarity question the impressment. This to me has always been a deep question. Is something like this necessary? Really man you are the only writer here that can make my brain go philosophical. It really showed how disconnected the mane six, or at least Rarity, is from the "scene" as it were to understand yet not accept why such a system would be in place. I think it is both a blessing and a curse to live such an ignorant life.
Now with my little philosophy out there, on to my review, no. Perfect, that's all I can say, perfect. The first thing to pop in my head when I read this was a mixture of one piece, assassins creed, and pirates of the Caribbean. To have the sophisticated yet merciful pirate, but also a tactican extraordinaire with swift and decisive movement. Loyal crew, higher morals, and mystery!! This has it all!! Two great stories! Two. I don't usually give out respect. But you sir have such talent, such passion, you are one of the few and far between stories that excite the imagination of many, pull the reader into another world, and most of all get my attention.
Oh I hope the updates don't take long! Wait... If you update this then that is time spent away from a dragon's journey. But if you work on a dragon's journey then I won't be able to see this story update for a while. But if you try to work on both at the same time you'll burn youself out. Oh this is a conundrum!! Whelp best get me some vanilla this is gonna take a while.

My comment on chapter 1 says that I believe the captain is Spike. And I do think that it is a bit of "The Ol' Switcheroo". The so-called prisoner is wearing Spike's captain cloths, and Spike has donned the colt's old hand-me-downs. Spike's first mate Grund is currently the captain-in-charge while Spike is on land.
And I knew the switch when it showed that both Spike and the prisoner (his name eludes me
) had the masks on.
Since we also know that Twilight still has some sort of feelings for him, I wonder how she's gonna take it, that Spike's been on the high seas the entire time he was missing. And once again, there is more subtlety that the other members of the Mane 6 like the mannerisms of that captain.

Excellent, excellent. Another great chapter! Can't really say about quality, I'm five seconds from passing out, but it was interesting enough to keep me, and force me, awake. So give yourself a pat on the back for that. Still, there where many points brought up that tickled my mind. Ohh!! This is gonna be good, wake up you lazy dragon and tell your awesome tale of pirate life, be used as a pawn in a strategy much bigger then you can comprehend, forge alliances, break trusts, and make this the best bucking story EVER!!

Another great chapter! I love the part with the smile... it makes me think my hopes are founded:
1) Spike only tells that he was kept in their dungeon and didn't know a thing, possibly because they wanted to find a use out of him but never did
2) Spike is the Captain of the pirates
3) He knows some magic or ability to spy on blueblood and his crony at the meeting and maybe get wires in the whole place
4) Spike gets a harem with the mane-six (and maybe not only them)
