Chris Taylor is a man, down on his luck, who finds himself getting a job in a shady security company. He doesn't know that in the facility that he is stationed in is secretly working on dimensional travel. Upon testing the scientists believed that they only opened a window, but were severally wrong when strange creatures came through. On the other side of the dimensional rift was the mystical land of Equestria where a happy pony named Shutter Flash lived. Shutter's world is about to turn upside down when his human counterpart is thrown into it without a way back home. He lends a helping hoof to help Chris, but will the challenges ahead prove to be too much for the both of them?
(My first fimfiction piece and I haven't had a lot of experience writing so any critiques would be awesome.)

Indeed, suspenseful first chapter. It makes me wonder though what happened with his father to make him say that to him, and looking at that camera brought him to say " I am not that same man, dad". Very interesting so far. I can sense though that Chris is tormented in his heart.

Oh, I really like the pony version of Chris. I like the stories of each. Chris the human is living with his friend, doesn't have a home, there is something about his past that happened with his father, and something about the camera that sat on his dresser. Chris the pony has a wonderful and beautiful marefriend in Lora Silkstep, a home in Hoofington, loves photography. Oh, it will be very interesting when both meet each other.

I can't wait for him to meet the pony version of himself, and maybe the pony version can help ignite his passion for photography again. Also, I have a whole lot of respect to O'Harrea for him trying to encourage Chris to leave the place and also get him to try to get into photography again. 
I find this extremely creepy, as Chris, has my full name and last name.

Shutter Flash saved Chris, and Chris saved Shutter Flash, simple awesome. Also, that filled me up to see Chris eye at Shutter's camera bringing back memories I can feel of his father and his once love for photography. I can't wait for Christ to meet Lora.

Yes, Chris got that flame of passion for photography lit up again in a way. Also, I loved the moment when he met Thunder Wing and Aurora Flash. It is going to be real emotional when he tells Shutter Flash the real reason why he doesn't do photography anymore. Another great chapter.
Well, on the whole I find the story to be quite enjoyable, but... you managed include one of my biggest pet peeves: Ponies being upset by beings that eat meat.
Twilight has a pet owl. And Rarity has a pet cat. And Applejack has a pet dog. And Pinkie Pie has a pet alligator. And there is an entire nation of Griffons that presumably eat meat. Rarity's dad was seen fishing in one episode. Fluttershy was seen feeding some fish to a bunch of ferrets in another. Fluttershy is friends with tons of carnivores. Hell, in at least one episde we saw SPIKE eat meat (granted they were worms). Eating meat should not be upsetting or even surprising to any of the ponies.
Ponies being upset by someone eating meat just doesn't make sense. Furthermore, it is pretty damn prejudiced and offensive of them, and I find it odd how often I see the protagonists in HiE fics apologizing for how they were born. I mean, humans are omnivores by nature. We need to eat meat, that's just how we are. Apologizing for something that we cannot help in the first place... Well, it is kind of messed up. It would be like apologizing for ones' skin color or gender.
Sorry for the long rant. I really do enjoy the story so far, it is just that issue is one that I have seen time and time again in FiM works and it really gets to me.

I mean, I half expected you and other readers to get angry at me since my post was mostly me ranting about something that most people don't consider that important.... I thought at best you would just acknowledge that it was a bit odd but that it wasn't a big deal and/or you had already written that part and weren't willing or able to change it just because one reader had an issue with it.

My theory is that he simply is infused with magic. He never had magic in him(not that in his world would be known of) so it seems only natural that during the time he aclimates to Equestria, he starts to build up his own "kind" of Magic.

Another chapter that left me speechless. If I may say, I can see just a couple of similarities with Flash Drive and Toby. Except for his mother not wanting anything to do with him, it is Toby's father. Also, him meeting Fluttershy was sweet especially with him rubbing her back and wings. That moment though with Lora and him kissing, that was hard to read. I hope he will be able to tell her what happened for real soon before it's too late.
