This story is a sequel to Princess Luna Visits a Wet Dream

Princess Celestia has been ruling Equestria for hundreds if not thousands of years. And yet it's always the same. They don't change, they don't learn to do things for themselves. Eventually an immortal being gets tired of it all.

A/N: I've noticed I write a lot of dialogue and not much else. As a challenge to myself, I decided to write this one without writing out any dialogue whatsoever.

Before he became the wicked spirit we know, King Sombra had been a kind king that had yearned for the well-being of his citizens. However, one thousand years ago, a series of events forced him to step forth into an abyss that would change him forever.

Twilight learns that she is not the first, but rather, a result. She's fine with this. More than anything else, she just wants Princess Celestia to finish the story.

Luna has been the keeper of dreams well before her banishment, and after a thousand years of absence and unchecked nightmares, she makes a vow to herself to continue helping ponies to the best of her abilities.

But, unfortunately for her, somepony doesn't take kindly to dreams being so rudely rooted around in, changing this and that all willy nilly with no regard for anypony else's hard work.

This somepony thinks it's time that Princess Luna be brought in for a little chat.

A thousand years can change everything. Civilizations, monuments, even legends can fade into nothing. When the Mare in the Moon returned, she was little more than an old story to most of the kingdom. And all stories fade with time.

What would it really take for a ruler to turn on their own empire? And what could turn the Princess of Dreams into a living nightmare?

Companion to Child of the Moon. Reading that story is NOT required to understand this one.

Over a thousand years ago, Princess Luna let her darker nature overtake her and became Nightmare Moon. Just before she changed, she gave a warning. What was this warning? How did it affect those who it was meant for?

Princess Luna has been sealed in the moon for a thousand years. Although released, she has been having trouble adjusting to how much the world has changed, along with the loss of everyone she held dear in ancient times. Despite the pleasant end to the last Nightmare Night, she is still uncertain of what her place is now. However, Twilight Sparkle is determined to show Luna that she belongs...on a very special day.

Who is Twilight Sparkle?

Reforming the tax and legal system had been her responsibility a thousand years ago, and it will be so again. There have been many changes during her millennium of absence, but the fundamentals always stayed the same. Ponies would find ways to circumvent the laws for their own benefit, and it was her job to make sure that didn't happen—in the most direct way possible.
