One thousand years ago the Mare in the Moon was released from her prison with the aid of the stars, precipitating a series of events that fulfilled an ancient prophecy and changed Equestria forever. Now one young filly sets out to learn the truth of what happened only to discover a secret history and a wonderful destiny of her own.

A thousand years ago, the sisters, Celestia and Luna, lost their little brother. He has finally returned after so long. Follow him as he tries to get his life back together and rejoin his family and learns of all that has changed.

Following the banishment of Nightmare Moon, Equestria as a nation was thrown into turmoil, never to recover.

It collapsed completely not long thereafter.

Now, a thousand years later, it'll be up to the inhabitants that have taken its place to finish what it could not.

A thousand years ago, the Elements of Harmony began to drift apart after Discord's fall; each Bearer in turn was corrupted, and fell, until only Sunny Skies - Celestia - remained untainted. That's what should have happened - and what did.

A thousand years ago and a timeline away, however, Sunny Skies was a bit more flexible when Chrysalis Fell...and realized that maybe the Element of Generosity hadn't fallen far enough to not be followed.

The story of how Luna felt during the thousand years on the moon, and how her emotions change from the time she was banished, to the time she returned.

Nothing stands in the sun too long, not even the one who bears the responsibility of raising it. After more then a thousand years and some change of ruling, Celestia has decided to finally retire.

Fifty thousand years ago, ponies were wild animals running free across untamed meadows and plains.

The gray foal lives with his herd, including his friend the buckskin filly, the lead stallion, and his mother. He bears witness to the thing that will change the history of Equestria forever.

In an alternate timeline, roughly 30 years after the reappearance of the Crystal Empire, Obsidian, a unicorn with Dark Magic at her command, is awoken from her slumber in a secret chamber, only to discover the world has changed greatly since her time under her father's heavy hoof. As she is integrated into society, she is commanded by the Princess of Friendship to make friends and learn how to adapt to the new world around her.

Though she has her... issues... she ends up meeting some interesting individuals, and begins to acclimate to pony society. But the question remains: will she be changed by Equestria... or will she rise to change Equestria herself?

[TEEN rating due to somewhat graphic descriptions of violence in one chapter, and light comic-book style gore. Otherwise, this story is SFW.]

Luna has been redeemed by the elements of harmony, but is finding that salvation is harder to come by. Ponies avoid her, the memories of Nightmare Moon still fresh in their minds. Additionally, after a thousand years of solitude and silence, she’s having trouble adjusting to life in noisy, crowded, living Equestria.

Change never happens easily, and Luna struggles despite the help of her sister and new friends, failing as much as she succeeds.

Perhaps the Moon, her prison for so very long, is truly where Luna belongs after all.

A thousand years is a long time to be away from Equestria. Times have changed, and with that, technology. Can Luna manage to fit into a world that she no longer recognizes? Princess Celestia hopes that a day out in Canterlot is just what Luna needs.
