Forged in fires of magic and charcoal. Worn with pride, damaged in battle after battle in times when ponies were no strangers to war. Repaired again and again. A regal mare's suit of armour tells a small but significant part of her story.

This is quite the tough story to properly tag. Anyhow, despite the title, this story has no relation to the Halo universe. This is a tentative foray into a new form of narrative style on my part, so any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

On the surface Fluttershy and Trixie didn't seem like two ponies that would ever have anything in common, but in reality they both share a tragic background. Now it's up to Fluttershy to try and fix the mistakes she's made in the past.

In the magical land of Equestria, ponies speak of great heroes and greater adventures, of foes overcome, and of hardships bravely faced. This is not one of those stories.

Sometimes, a mare is just a mare. Yet, just sometimes, even an unremarkable footnote of history might be worth listening to. Princess Luna loves her little ponies, be they old or young -- and on the night before the new year's dawn, she takes the time to visit a jaded old mare.

Because even a pony in the twilight of her days deserves help, whether she will admit it or not.

Originally written for a contest back in 2013.

While on her way from Zecora's hut in Everfree Forest and to her cottage, Fluttershy comes upon two small creatures she had never seen before: both of whom are made of stone, a little larger than fillies and colts and--despite their beastly appearances--act and behave most friendly toward the mare.

All the while, two unicorn Royal Guards patrolling outside the city of Canterlot encounter a giant bi-pedal, stone-composed, yet courteous, knight, who kindly seeks their help in seeking an audience with the monarch(s) of their land in finding out where is he. Both princesses are in for a big surprise in meeting with him.

But it doesn't stop there: Soon all living Equestria will learn with astoundment that there are several more of these stone-like giants suddenly appearing all over their world, without any seeming explanation.

Lyra’s hunt for the supernatural in Ponyville continues unabated, and this week the object of her desire is not changelings, nor sea-ponies, but the rare and secretive human. With the help of her plucky (and irritable) assistant Rainbow Dash, Lyra is sure that this time she’s going to get to the bottom of a real mystery. However, the real question is why does Rainbow Dash hate humans?

Despite this, she can't help but notice that Luna always wants to wriggle out of Twilight's hugs.
And for a young lovestruck princess, that simply will not do.
