Well, folks... I admit I had a couple of shaky moments not long after I released the new C&C chapter, wondering if I'd just made a grave mistake by bumping the rating and including the ending scene. An upvote was reversed and the first two comments the chapter received regarding that scene were negative, which did not bode well at all.

After a turkey week break from work that wasn’t a full week (had to work Monday) or very restful due to travel, I’m back on the job, both in the office and writing the new C&C chapters. Yes, chapters, as with the total length of this thing now approaching 24,000 words, I’m going to have to break it up one last time. That’s just too long for an adult chapter, even a climactic one. And yes, even one chock full of lore and worldbuilding goodies.

The first chapter draft for C&C is off to prereaders, weighing in at a whopping 17,775 words. So far I’ve gotten one of those prereads back with another in progress, and the initial feedback is favorable. As I’m still picking at it and slipping stuff in, it’s likely going to be approaching 19,000 or more words when all is said and done. But I don’t think I’ll reduce its size by splitting it this time. It’s a climactic chapter, so even as a clop chapter, it will be of climatic chapter length.

For two reasons. First, work is picking up again, and it may stay that way through August as we have an important September deadline for my team to hit. Second, I found I needed an extended break from writing after the last two Eros chapters for all the effort I put into them. Needed to mentally rest and emotionally recharge from it before starting something new.

The new chapter is closing on 11k words, and it might well be up over 15k when all is said and done. Too far past that, and I’ll have to think about breaking it up again. I’ve gotten close to finishing the first and last (fourth) sections, with the second section at 70% done and the third, about 30%. But the third is in some ways the most crucial, given that’s where you’re going to learn what’s going on elsewhere in the Kingdom and just where/when/how the Cloven struck.

But the symptoms didn’t match, as even though I was shortly running a temperature, I had no trouble breathing, my coughing was productive, and I kept my sense of smell. Chapters 10-13 R-rated/M-rated updates to Continuation and Chronicles are targeted for release on Sunday morning, with the remainder following at the rate of one additional M-rated entry plus any changed preceding chapters (which will typically be R-rated) every two days. As things stand, chapters 10-12 will be R-rated and 13 will be M-rated, though I’ve been tempted to go further with 12 as well.

A warm welcome to any and all new Feathered Hearts readers, folks, whether you read Eros or just Continuation and Chronicles. I hate calling those two latest Eros chapters an ordeal, but they were at times simply for much I was trying to do and how much I wanted to include, both in terms of sex and worldbuilding. It took over a month to write what ended up being all 25,000 words, though it seems to have turned out well in the end.

Thankfully, I already have about 7000 words to work with that I removed from the ending of the previous chapter. So hopefully, it won’t take too long. I guess it depends on how easily I’m able to ease back into it after five months since the last chapter.
