New Midnight Rising chapter off to prereaders...

At long last. This is the redo of the chapter I was forced to scrap in April and then about 80% rewrite. I saved a few select bits and pieces from the original version, but the rest went by the wayside.

Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Eros chapter releases in the books; Midnight Rising on deck · 7:12pm Jul 19th, 2023

A warm welcome to any and all new Feathered Hearts readers, folks, whether you read Eros or just Continuation and Chronicles. I hate calling those two latest Eros chapters an ordeal, but they were at times simply for much I was trying to do and how much I wanted to include, both in terms of sex and worldbuilding. It took over a month to write what ended up being all 25,000 words, though it seems to have turned out well in the end.

But you be the judge on that one, folks. I admit I’m tempted to release a T-rated version for at least part of the latest chapter—sacrilege though that seems for Eros—since some of what’s introduced here will be relevant later in the main story. This includes revelations about certain things the ibex can do, the effects of dragon smoke, and a mention of a new female dragon lord with a surprising earthside analog. Or is she just an analog...?

But more on that later. For long-languishing fans of Unleash the Magic, you’ll be happy to know that Midnight Rising is finally up next. I would like to get through two chapters of it before moving on to something else, but it simply depends on how easy the next chapter comes to me. As the last chapter of Eros showed, sometimes it can be a struggle even when I’m enjoying the subject matter.

Nevertheless, as today is the 19th, I’ll aim for having a completed draft done by the end of the month, if possible. It will be the end of the Griffon Kingdom arc with suitable fireworks as Queen Molyneux defends her cubs, crown and Kingdom from being usurped by Dragon Lord Vesuvius. Expect her to prove that she wasn’t just blowing hot air when she said that they had defenses against dragons—with a very M-rated twist—as the question of who will serve and who will rule is answered.

But that’s not all as Fortrakt Gletscher meets his bat-winged destiny while Midnight makes some contingency plans based on what she saw of potential futures in the naked singularity. The flaw in her planning is whether it’s showing her the likely outcomes, or only those futures/alternate realities which she wants to see...

Oh, and it won’t be this chapter, but next where Sunset has a reunion of sorts with a certain tsundere blue-scaled dragon girl. Without giving away what happens, I’ll simply say that’s one scene I’m looking forward to writing! It will be a bit of a sidenote, though, as it’s finally time for Midnight to turn her attention on the worst offender of the Shadowbolt girls—Lemon Zest. And I only just recently figured out exactly what punishment Midnight will impose...

Anyway, I’ll keep folks informed of my progress, as always. Teasers are unlikely given the high M-rated content, but who knows? It’s possible that the anti-dragon defense I’m planning for them to use might be available in Feathered Hearts later...

Ah yes, the flaw in every recommendation algorithm. :derpytongue2: Basing future picks on past decisions creates a concerning feedback loop. But even Midnight can't perceive literal infinity all at the same time; she had to start somewhere, and that's where the trouble starts.

I'm very much looking foward to the future chapters of Midnight Rising.

You said it. For all her power, she’s not truly omnipotent and can only absorb so much information at a time. And for having godlike powers, she still has some all-too-human failings, including confirmation bias.

I know you are! Here’s hoping I can deliver them sooner rather than later.
