Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns is the center of magical research in Equestria. Since Apple Bloom developed a love of potion making and an interest in the theory behind magic, she recognizes what an honor it would be to study there. But that would also mean being the only non-unicorn student to ever attend, leaving her friends and family, and moving to a strange city... and that's if she can pass an entrance exam designed to select the most magically gifted unicorns.

Spike has never wanted more than to be Twilight's number one assistant. But when Twilight points out that there's a pony right in front of him who needs an experienced assistant even more than she does, it means considering a life where he's making the most of his talents... but one without Twilight by his side.

For both of them, facing hard decisions are just part of growing up.

All bad things happen because of simple mistakes. Sure, it may be that you accidentally let your pet loose and it wreaks havoc on your neighbor's lawns, or it might be that you left a sibling at home, and you come back home and something's on fire.

But spilling tea on magic which you don't have a single clue how it works might be the worst of the bunch.

While she is stuck on the moon, Luna begins to beat herself up over how she let Nightmare Moon take over her actions. But help from an unknown source allows her to gain just enough confidence to begin to fight back once again. Although, Nightmare Moon is not ready to give up very easily. Will Luna be able to overcome her darker half? Or will she forever be a prisoner of her own self?

After the Battle of the Bands, Sunset Shimmer struggles to find middle ground between the person she wants to be and the person others at school expect her to be. Nightmare Moon may be reveling in her triumph over the Nyx and her newfound influence over ponies' dreams, but she is far from completing her goal of spreading eternal nightmares to all of Equestria, and far from completing her banishment of a thousand years upon the moon. Still, the Nyx resist her in their own ways for now...and back on earth, Celestia still has hope for the safe return one day of her little sister.

And, meanwhile, Nightmare Moon experiences her own bouts of distress. Sometimes strange 'nightmares' plague her--nightmares of love and redemption and the pony princess who she used to be. They don't come often, but whenever they do a strange confusion overtakes her. Slowly the years pass, and her confusion grows...until the thousandth year when, signaled by the bright light of her banishment's final full moon, everything the princess of the night ever was is finally set free to return to Equestria again.

In an effort to encourage reading and writing in Ponyville, Mayor Mare launched a project inviting ponies to write their autobiographies for storage in the Castle's Library. However, despite her thrilling life, Rarity simply didn't have the time to sit down and write her autobiography, no matter how badly Twilight wanted her to do it.

...Then again, she wasn't all that good at not catering to the alicorn's every adorable whim.

Much to the surprise of Princess Pancake, an apparent conflict has come between her nation and the neighboring nation of Mapleopolis. Being the brilliant and delectable diplomat she is, she must speak to Mapleopolis's leaders to try and quell whatever tensions have come between them.
