As I'm sure you can tell by the dates of submission, this story was started quite some time ago. Instead of completely ignoring things that have happened since season 3 on, this will be an alternate reality that branched from shortly before Twilight began the path to become an alicorn.

This is a retelling and extended version of the Canterlot Wedding with a couple new original characters who will take the story down a different and darker path.

The lives of Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Shining Armor, Spike, and the Mane Five have gone downhill. They all reflect on the events that led to their situation. The changelings were beaten but the wedding was cancelled. Prince Jewelius, another nephew of Celestia and younger cousin of Cadance, holds all of them responsible for the disaster. He then has the three princesses removed from power and all ten of them exiled from Equestria while he takes the throne for himself. With the fate of Twilight Sparkle unknown, the group of outcasts decide to return to Equestria to find their beloved unicorn friend and earn back their lives. But Jewelius is determined to get rid of them no matter the cost.

ALL THE SPOILERS! Warning: Contains spoilers for S6E25&26. Do not read unless you have watched.

Chrysalis was in exile, the ponies had regained their princesses, they had returned to their cities. Worst of all, her swarm was changed, rebuilt by love. But something isn't quite right, why is the changeling queen smiling?

Running, it's all Chrysalis has ever done since she was born. Running from her emotions, from her heritage, from Celestia, and now she's on the run again, but this time is different. Twilight Sparkle doesn't give up as easily as Celestia did...

Chrylight in future chapters.

It has been almost two years since her plan failed. In that time, Queen Chrysalis, and the rest of the Changeling race has whittled down to less than a tenth. Now, huddled and cold in some dank cave, on Hearth's Warming Eve no less, Chrysalis and her remaining Changelings are cold and hungry. To lift their spirits and warm their hearts, Chrysalis reads them an old story to help them prepare for the following day.
This story is a tearjerker. The next chapter will have the fate of the Changelings, but don't get your hopes up.
